Two mobility traits in one line?
I think people pick which trait suits them best. I don’t personally use banshee’s wail, as i’ll use the dagger trait or just locust sig to get around, or if im focused on killing people i won’t bother with swiftness at all. I don’t have a problem with how they organized it.
It took Anet years to change the traits and trait system, so I highly doubt they’ll consider this. It’s just not that important. I still miss the point system where I could flush into multiple trees for their goodies and stat bonuses, now i’m stuck with picking trait lines for both their “needed” traits and their “meh” trait baggage, without the bonus of stat flush.
The issue is not which trait they pick, the issue is you either pick blood magic or forget about a decent movement speed for necro without jumping through some major hoops.
Just take a look at “alternatives”:
1. signet of the locust – perma waste of precious utility slot that can very likely have absolutely nothing to do with the build you’re currently running. But you gotta cause speed.
2. Speed of shadows – burns the crucial resource (life force) off to run faster. You need your life force for combat, not for running.
3. Spectral Walk – in terms of average running speed loses out to all other speed boosts, because of limited swifness uptime compared to it’s cooldown.
4. runes with movement speed/swiftness – rune is a huge part of a build. having to give up on that for movement speed is again jumping through a major hoop.
Now in PvE that may not be that big of a deal (waypoints, speed mushrooms in maguuma), but in pvp being slow is the first cardinal sin punishable with death. Usually that of your teammates as you failed to get there on time to aid them.
Signet of the Locust is ~6k heal when there are 5 enemies you know.
TL;DR
OP wants mounts in game so he can grind faster
hates how slow walking really is
probably uses a segway irl
dude, you simply have to pick whether or not you want that 25% runspeed buff from one of the many sources we can get it from, or suck it up and use those traits/skills for stuff you want more.
and yeah, locust sig isn’t a waste. traited it can corrupt boons, siphon health, have low cd, and hit for ~5-6k if you’re in a hairy teamfight. hardly a waste.
Yea it should not be there. Its funny you mention this because i was just thinking about the same thing yesterday when i was once again changing my power build. It used to be in curses but the studio decided to use their own version of logic and put the 2 movement traits in the same line so you either have easy access to movement which is actually necessary or use half your build space trying not to be a crawling target.
Obviously i’m referring to banshee’s veil (which is for all means and purposes near 100% swiftness uptime for warhorn users) and quickening thirst.
Yep, it’s really weird, not gonna lie. I’d be totally on board for moving Banshee’s Veil to another line, partially so I could decide which speed boost to use, partially so I can get both Banshee’s Veil and Vampiric Presence.
But Curses is a terrible place for Banshee’s Veil. Warhorn is primarily a Power weapon. It isn’t terrible for condition builds because an unblockable AoE Daze is just so good, but it’s really not what condi builds should be looking to for their off-hand weapon most of the time.
Maybe stick it in Soul Reaping? Make Vital Persistence baseline, move Banshee’s Veil over to Soul Reaping, give Blood something else?
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
well true, warhorn is the cc, life force gain/cripple tool. Death magic seems the best candidate, given soul reaping already has a movement speed trait (speed of shadows) and how death magic also touches on warhorn’s features (cc and life force generation) + the locusts are kinda unofficial minions;p
If that’s the case i would put it in place of deathly strength, while the latter I would merge with beyond the veil. Even condi necros would benefit here, given how we get wrecked my diamond skin eles with no real counters available for a condi build…
Yeah the signet is a nice heal when used in the correct situation.
