Underwater Build
Underwater condition builds are absolutely ridiculous, in my experience.
I’ve taken a liking to my vampiric power build underwater as of late. With spear’s Wicked Spiral and Deadly Feast you can suck up a lot of health in situations where you’ve got multiple targets to hit. It kind of makes me wish we had a cleaving vampiric focused weapon on land.
Then there’s Frozen Abyss on the trident. Dear lord that thing hits like a truck, it’s one of my favourite Necro skills by far.

Wait a minute, you can change a build to an underwater build? Biggest noob question every but how do u do that, i am levevling my necro now, but fight underwater like I normally do. Never changed anythign except for weapon.

You cannot change builds underwater, except for the fact the breather item comes into play, which will break some 6 set runes if you don’t have a duplicate rune.
It does give you access to two new weapons though, so I consider that a pretty big shift, since that change happens in a split second after you dive in.
I never claim to know much about power, but as far as conditions are concerned, you can get significant damage underwater with trident. Really if you want to look at it compared to a land condition build:
1. Your DS fear is AOE and lasts twice as long. Also deals about 300 base damage to targets on hit. (only 5 seconds longer cooldown than land based DS fear)
2. Your auto attack now applys AOE bleeding at 1200 range (though slightly shorter duration than sceptor with lingering curses)
3. You have much easier access to long-lasting poison (Trident 3/DS2). Those two skills can provide 40+ second of poison against stationary targets. Not to mention DS2 also AOE Blinds in addition to its AOE poison per pulse. Oh did I mention trident 3 is a BURST moment skill?
4. Your trident 2 skill can give up to 25% life force in a near instant cast skill, and PBAOE weakness. Try generating that much LF on land with sceptor.
5. Trident 4 is the basic 2 second water stun everyone gets (nothing special), but trident 5 is a huge AOE chill/vulnerability burst skill that can hit over 5k in a rampagers build.
I have little positive to say about spear. It is MUCH harder to keep in melee range of things under water with the Z axis fighting you, and for some reason it seems really hard to get everything to line up on the auto attack to keep it going in mobile combat.
The damage on spear seems far lower to me than it should be… the entire chain of spear 2 is weaker than trident 5, and it doesn’t apply chill, is interruptible, and doesn’t have nearly as large an AOE. Spear 3 is the most powerful by far, because of its speed and siphon effect, but both the 4 and 5 skills have long cooldowns for minimal effects.
Underwater I lock myself on trident and find it very fun. Trying to swap back and forth to spear seems like a waste of time when I can bomb aoe bleeding from 1200.
Necro zerker with spear is absolutely ridiculous underwater. We really should have a weapon as good as the spear on land. It beats the warrior spear imo. The base damage is amazing, its just a little irritating that our hardest hitting weapon is underwater…
If you combo 3,4 then 2 on the underwater fractal. The krait just get obliterated.
