Anyone have an updated wvw necro build? The current build I have is full soldiers with runes of necromancer (jewerly too); all exotics. 30/0/20/20/0. In spite I have: V, VII, XII. In death magic I have: V, VII. In blood magic I have II, VIII. Staff as main weapon with wells and wall of fear, including plague. I want to be able to run with the commander in the heat of battle and provide a decent dps with good survivability. I just came back after two months away from GW2, so I am unaware of changes that have effected necros and my necro build in particular but I have heard they made some major changes.

going 30 in soul reaping would be the best way to add more survivability, picking up foot in the grave. I find stability more valuable then extra toughness or vitality.
I have been playing 0/20/0/20/30 for a long time now, far from being full soldiers and still haven’t had issues with survivability.
I don’t think there were any big changes in the last 2 months though.

There’s some improvement that can be made depending on how adamant you are on the balance between damage and survivability. The first thing I will point out is that it’s not necessary to be on top of the Commander. You can use Marks and Wells from a distance rather than risking unnecessary damage. The only time I personally suggest you risk entering the center is for Plague and blasting Water Fields. This will change a lot about your build if you decide to subscribe to the line of thought.

The second issue I will point out is that the build could have better synergy. Retaliation in Death Shroud (Spite V) while not using at least Death Shroud cooldown (Soul Reaping VIII) is in my opinion a waste. Another example can be seen in the options you’ve chosen for siphoning health. If you’re running Soldiers armor then it’s not likely that health is an issue for you in the first place not to mention the natural survivability options a Necro has such as Death Shroud, Plague and to some extent Spectral Form.

So rather than give specific trait suggestions I would humbly suggest 1) Consider your place on the battlefield and maximizing your dps up time versus your time spent trying to survive, 2) Pick traits and skills that synergize well and 3) Start with full survivability in terms of traits and armor and as you become comfortable start switching things out for damage oriented traits and armor until you find your personal balance.

This is the build I normally use. I find it very “tanky”, and gives me a high survivability, and what I think is a decent (but no top) damage-output.
