Sup all,
when the reaper released I didn’t give much credit to the greatsword that came along with it, but after really trying it out (20+ matches with a fitting build) I’ve fallen in love with it It turns out to be much more than the ‘clunky weapon’ that I thought it was.
D/Wh will always be better, but playing with a huge kitten greatsword and landing 10k+ Gravediggers just feels so awesome :^)

The highest crit I’ve gotten so far is 17k (like shown in the video) but when I’m gonna do a WvW montage with this build I want to at least get a 20k xD

Keeping em chilled and stacking up that might! Still using BB for this build because it just gives so much sustain, even when equipped with a zerker amulet :p

I’m sure this would be entertaining to watch, but you’re contrast and gamma level editing is too painful on the eyes.

Interesting video, I was just going to try out Rise today as well, and I always wanted to see how I’d do if I replaced my dagger/warhorn with a GS.

It depends, of course, but I usually do 500/600k dmg
Rise is an absolute must, it makes you a tank with zerker stats xD

I want to believe! But what I saw was a lot of team support. In all of your 1vX fights you started losing and had to get off point until friends arrived. I want power Reaper to work so badly but It just can’t compare to the condi/hybrid in sustain and 1vX fights.

You also really need to stop spamming Staff 4. I love your videos and watch them all but man you waste your condition transfer almost every fight.

The only times I’ve seen him do that was when there was no point in preserving Putrid’s cooldown because the fight was already won.

He does it several times in this video alone. There is sort of a mitigating circumstance in this build though because it is very high damage with all his might and zerker amulet. Around 7:20 is a good example. He does it immediately after “Suffer” which already transferred his conditions. There are a few more but it is hard to tell because he may have been doing it to use the damage or the blast finisher.

As far as the 1vX thing goes that isn’t really true because I said ON POINT. There are plenty of builds that can survive 1vX on point until help gets there. The Zerker amulet is glassy no matter how you slice it. Running off point and using LoS is good gameplay but it will not help you win the point.

He didn’t use Suffer at 7:20. Putrid Mark, yes, but in that case it was definitely a preventive measure in anticipation of getting condis either by the necro or the ele, he was very low on health afterall.

If those 2+ opponents properly focus and pressure, there is no way you can bunker a point for a significant amount of time, regardless of class or build.

Which is why this build isn’t made to ‘hold’ a point. It’s more like a thief +1 build, minus all the things that make a +1 build good Q_Q

I can agree with you that at times I’m a bit careless with my putrid mark, but with this build it does do 4k+ AoE dmg… so if I think I can use it and not get condi kittened right after I will :p

EDIT – And yea, my teammates carried me hard that match. My HP pool was full most of the time and I got some yummy boons In a regular match I die a couple of times, of course.

I never said zerker is tanky.
What I said was: even if you have a tankier amulet than that, you can’t stay on point against two or more opponents.
Will you die faster with less defensive stats? Of course. But you make it sound like some extra defensive stats is the difference between having to leave a point or staying on it for as long as it takes until help arrives. That is simply wrong. You can run the tankiest build ever and two non-bunkers will still either kill you or force you off point.

The description is missleading this time tho.
GS is trash to the point its justified to report someone using it in pvp….and same for wvw since i hear it now gives points for kills.

its same as rifle warrior since start, yes there were big hit montages, but there never should be anyone labeling it as “not awful”

I’m glad you bring this point is up in every thread with a GS mention. It’s totally reasonable and well substantiated. The reporting is particularly edgy.

GS need faster AA but it isnt trash, just to hard for some to learn.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Geratsword is actually really good in teamfights. There is enough going on that you will land a Gravedigger on someone, usually. Contrary to popular belief, there isn’t so much CC flying around as to prevent that, especially if you pop Nightfall.

I still prefer core conditionmancer but I do roll power Reaper every now and again. Mostly zerk with some Valk and Wurm runes. The crits are delicious. Highest Gravedigger I’ve landed on a player was 19k.

I didn’t like greatsword at first either but in groups, I always go GS and Staff for heavy melee pressure and ranged utility. Solo though, it’s mostly Dagger/Warhorn and either GS or Staff. GS is fun but quite difficult to use by yourself just because of how slow it is.

Agreeing with Drarnor here. GS is not a 1v1 weapon. It does however shine in teamfights to the point where I can’t see myself using a dagger while running with my WvW group anymore.

Now that quickness rez is gone, I also found it much easier to punish careless reviving. Love it when I see more people drop in a 5v5 because they ate a gravedigger while going for a quick revive.

Was using something like that when hot first started, fun as hell to play, risk vs reward is crazy but the reward feels soooo rewarding when you land that Gravedigger on 3 people on a point. For some real fun take, hydro, fire on gs and take the chill explosion trait.(ruins the whole shout thing I know) Had some pretty hilarious procs with that.

Tried this out the last couple of days:

Leeching bolts from Nightfall → Soul Spiral are so nice now! The healing is actually noticeable.

It feels better than Valk, because Chilling Victory > Decimate Defenses when Blighter’s Boon is proccing (Suffer/GraspingDarkness → Nightfall → Infusing Terror → Soul Spiral is just a boatload of healing). With Valk, I felt I had to rely on DD and Sigil of Intelligence.

I don’t think I’ve ever given Wurm enough of a shot. I still don’t entirely love it, but I have a bit more respect for it in sPvp over having just another shout or a well.

Consume Conditions still feels worse than YSIM, BUT without running plague signet, the extra condition removal was pretty huge.

Overall, I enjoyed it, though I still felt like running Sigil of Agility on the GreatSword helped way more than it should.

PS – picking the GS back up using an amulet that doesn’t need DD reinforces to me that picking Soul Eater basically ever is awful. Why didn’t that trait get redesigned?

After trying this even more… if I even see a Thief on the other team, I just switch back to a tankier build. I feel like decent thieves just make me evaporate, through nightfall, decent LF, using wurm, anything. : (

kitten , I’ve been trying to have fun on couple weird builds including Greatsword and minion jihad ones for couple days, but sadly I have to face trihardinios practicing (?) their rerolls for the League finals. No loves for fun builds. FeelsBadMan.

If your impressed by this video then your as much of a scrub as the enemy team is on this video. There is absolutely nothing impressive about how easily this group beat down these noobs. You should also note that there is a core necro(not reaper) using power wells build+well of blood on the enemy team. I simply don’t know how to lose against a core necro using power builds as a reaper. Whether I was a power or condi reaper. The gap in power creep between the two is night and day. You also see the scrapper just get wrecked by this GS reaper so bad in a 1v1. If it wasn’t for the enemy rev I am pretty sure he would’ve been forced to disengage or die in a 1v1 against a gs reaper. The player on the scrapper has to be absolute garbage for this nonsense to have an existence.

This GS Berserker amulet reaper only has wurm and last gasp as a stun break. You get caught out without your flesh wurm up your a dead man with berserker amulet even with Rise up. You can see in the video that several of these fights he is without his flesh wurm up to juke out. The enemy team isn’t locking him down and finishing this guy in 3 seconds. If this was a real team this guy wouldn’t even be able to come close to the teamfight without getting focused and downed np. He would be lucky if he could actually contribute to his team.

Quit fooling the less experienced necro/reaper players in the community with this nonsense. It’s an eyesore. This video can’t fool me by how fixed it is. I am just afraid that this video will fool the Devs.

Not a single person has claimed this build to be good, strong, effective, or whatever metric you want to deem relevant other than fun.

No one’s going to expect to ride this through Diamond, especially with the resurgence of thieves who can just walk by and make this build fall over.

It’s not even amazing there, nor was it claimed to be. No one tossed this out as The Meta Build To Destroy Tournament Play.
