A Tribute to Robert Gee. Just a nice thing for our necro dev, Robert Gee. The first dev who actually listen and cares about necromancer.

As someone who has mained Mesmer and Necromancer since beta, I greatly appreciate Robert’s attention. His creativity and dedication to improving our professions has revitalized my interest in GW2.

Thank you, Robert!

The commentary on that video was hilarious lol, but yeah…great work RG. A little sad that it appears reapers/necros won’t be getting instanced PvE love, but they are awesome everywhere else. This is the best shape I have seen this class in since the original launch. Thank you for listening and actually implementing positive changes.

Yeah, he really knows what hes doing. He gave Necromancers a meaningfull niche of support, while letting me still feel like a necromancer. He starts to fix the biggest problems in a meaningfull way and i actually, for the first time, think he really does read a lot on here and considers the feedback he gets.

I love my necromancer. It was the first class I ever rolled with, and the one I have by far the most time on. I love the changes, but honestly it has made the Necromancer seem kinda silly easy. I’m not sure it’s possible to die anymore and the level of dps is nuts compared to what I am used to out of this class. I think when they buffed it through the roof they may have killed my enjoyment of it. It sure feels kitten . Is this what guardians feel like all the time I wonder.

Anyway, my other two characters are engineer and mesmer. Chronomancer is begging for major nerfage, but it still requires some compelling gameplay. Engineer.. not really sure on this one yet. Flamethrower + Hammer is pretty fun and powerful, and the need for quick kit switching and accurate, timely skill usage is keeping it interesting.

At least neither of these was buffed to boredom levels though. I am so conflicted lol.

The main thing with what Gee has been doing is actually not buffing what was already good. Notice, for example, that the balance changes have not touched a single Spectral skill, Dagger, or Wahorn.

What he has been buffing, though, is our underused and weak skills and traits. Buffing the weak stuff while not touching the good is what really brings build diversity.

And really? Necros probably have the most build variety of any profession now.

There have been some changes I’ve not agreed with, but there is plenty of amazing changes to give him credit for.

To think there was actually a time we could not siphon health through shroud. Now we can even share those siphons with allies. Boon hate is through the ceiling with signets. And now this posion cloud that blocks projectiles and all this delicious scepter torment.

Now we really just need some finishers on that axe. #Geelieve

(and I would love some stability, but…)

He definitely deserves credit for great work with the Necro. The Reaper/Shouts/GS are all well done…especially for still being in Beta.

The profession now has some new playstyles that are powerful and unique, yet still have weaknesses and counterplay.

As for Mesmers, they also got a unique playstyle that is super powerful. However, when you look at the profession as a whole, he may have gone too far. There really isn’t much reason to play anything else because no other profession has this combination of baseline/spec options which covers almost all game play:

1. Great condi specs
2. Great power specs
3. Great AOE specs
4. Great team support specs
5. Almost all insta cast spells
6. Super low cooldowns on heals which also heal high % of hp
7. Low cooldowns on virtually all utilities including elites
8. Lots of damage from range AND up close
9. Highest AI damage of any profession
10. Longest Stealth of any profession except some thieves
11. Greatest mobility options for both team and solo
12. Tons of 100% scaling defenses that work regardless how many people attacking u
13. Movement impairing skills, interrupts and overall slows
14. Great specs for duels and 1v1 style play
15. Ability to initiate almost every fight as well as disengage from almost every fight

And here’s the 3 biggest kickers that they have over virtually every other profession….

16. Ability to do significant damage while immune/invulnerable on short cooldowns (via tons of AI)
17. Ability to do significant damage while stealthed (again via tons of AI). Actually, they can do it for longer periods than even a thief with thieves guild or ranger with pets while briefly stealthed via longbow 3

If there is another profession that can do all that just by changing specs, let me know.

Except that most of these things he isn’t responsible for.
Those existed before he became lead Mesmer designer. The only thing we know he is responsible for is chronomancer.

So what exactly is your point? If you want whine go do it in another thread.

Necro might not be perfect but it has never felt as good to be necro since he took over officially. So again, wrong place and guy for the QQ.

Hah. This was worth a laugh, at least.

But yeah, it was nice a few months back when necros suddenly became playable in PvP. I’m in favor.
