[Vid] WvW Roaming Power Reaper (Shouts)
a decent little montage my friend. Liked the music alot and your frights seemed pretty streamlined. So not to shabby at all. ill study it more to see how i can improve on my own game play from this footage thanks mate.
Hasseo: Thief 80
Caex: Necro (Main) Power/Reaper
You can’t really tell me you struggle vs a LB/SB core ranger without any food >.>
I am confused.
Why using Deathly Chill on power build, which have the same-ish dmg per tick as bleed.
While burn have nice dmg even w/o condi setup, I would prefer extra crit to secure every hit would be crit.
Your setup might be good against those perma protection rangers but that is all imo.You win those fights cause you have high dmg, not because the use of those condi traits. that is what I think.
The video itself was a bit problematic to me, you should have kept the UI stuff to minimum and the footage bigger, I had to actually get closer to my screen to watch it.

“Struggle” is a harsh word, especially since he was also hiding in his camp.
I’ll admit, I made it look a lot closer than it had to be near the end since I popped out of shroud too early, but I also had heal, so I can assure you, it wasn’t a struggle.
I almost left it out but had a lot of requests for, a) recovering from bad fights (he had been 1200 ranging me in a previous fight before that), and b) killing pew pew rangers (a problem, for whatever reason, a lot of people said they had).

All very good questions. It is something on paper that is hard to justify, but I will try. In my experience, it’s not “how do I optimize my strengths” but more so, “how do I make up for my weaknesses”.
Generally, when I finally get up close, I never have a hard to finishing them off, so Reaper’s Onslaught seems like a waste.
Blighter’s Boon is something I played with for a long time, and is especially sexy with the spite line. But again, sustain in a fight is never something I’ve had a problem with. In fact, fights where I eventually got out-sustained were usually solved by adding Deathly Chill, since I was able to make better trades from a distance (the weak point of Reaper 1v1’s) with staff (which can output about 8 seconds of chill).
And as you pointed out, Dhuumfire is preference. Crit is nice and all, but there are some fights you need to win with condi (burn guards, power rev’s, etc). For me, it has never come down to “aw man, I wish I crit there”, but rather “these blocks are super annoying”, and getting 1k burn ticks in between periods where you can’t auto is SUPER nice.

This is correct. Condi is not the reason I win the fights, and isn’t even what makes the build. The condi traits are just an addition I personally chose to make up for the weaknesses in the build.

Thanks for letting me know, I actually scaled it down a fair amount from some initial renditions. I was worried it was still too small, but I’m glad to get this feedback to confirm it.

Range ppl never trouble me while I got axe/focus, they troubled me when I had staff. Untill HoT I used staff as mendatory, but when reaper was out, I found axe to be better at dealing with ranged. the only one who managed to beat me cause the range is herald and thier stupidly OP hammer.

I’ve seen that a couple times. It’s just hard to imagine Reaper or Necro without the utility of staff, especially when using unblockable marks. And yeah, Hammer Rev’s are SUPER annoying. Luckily, they don’t run Mallyx, so having the bit of condi is super good at pressuring them.
