WVW Condition build
If you poke around on the first 2-3 pages of the necro forum you find lots of interesting stuff. We don’t post a ton of new topics so….
Build is in there for a 30/20 build. If you want to run a 30/30 you can do that as well… most folks would take lingering curses or spectral attunment or master of corruption.
build i use and that someone on forum gave to me. the build reallly hurts and if you get 25 stacks on the sigil with no Might. your bleeds will be ticking for 140 per sec. i use the cheaper food item instead of the better one. i just put best food incase you wanted know.
PS : build works great in PvE also.

In WvW you need to have 20 in death magic to upgrade your staff, it essential.
nope. only need 10. CDR is unimportant on staff as your s/d is main dps. staff is for utility.

I agree wholeheartedly here. Staff is great for throwing down marks on inc (so Greater Marks is a given), but most of your damage is going to be scepter; if it isn’t, you may want to rethink being a condition build.
I couldn’t disagree more. I’ve found scepter/dagger to be completely ineffective in large scale fights. You use Scepter #2 and Dagger #5, and then you’re left with a pea shooter that goes plink plink against one guy in a 15 vs. 15 fight. The most you can do then is use Tainted Shackles or try and follow up with epidemic on one target.
The staff has great AoE, and also has good condition damage when specced correctly, and it does this at 1200 range. Lets compare it to the AoE bleeds of other weapons:
Mark of Blood: 3 bleeds x 8 seconds, 6 (4.8) second recharge, comes to 4 bleed ticks per second on use, and 5 bleed ticks per second with the recharge bonus.
Grasping Dead: 3 × 7 bleeds, 10 second recharge, comes to 2.1 bleed ticks per second on use. Becomes 33% more effective with the right traits.
Enfeebling Blood: 2 × 10 bleeds, 25 (20) second recharge, comes to 1 bleed tick per second on use with the recharge bonus.
So for AoE bleeds Mark of Blood is superior to Enfeebling Blood and Grasping dead combined. I usually open with scepter/dagger, then switch to staff to main that for awhile, and sometimes I’ll switch back to S/D and then use DS while those are recharging. But all in all, I use the staff for WvW. The AoE bleeds are the best, the AoE chill + poison is really easy to apply, it has excellent condition transfering + blast finisher, and it also comes with an AoE fear (and terror rocks in WvW).
So far, I use a 20/30/20/0/0 staff build in WvW. Utilities are Spectral Wall, Spectral Grasp/Well of Suffering/Epidemic, and Locust Signet for movement.
to each their own. S/D is better at bleed stacking though, while your staff is on CD. you could be auto attacking(stacking bleed) with scepter.

Yep. Conditionmancers should be switching between Staff and S/D almost constantly in group fights and sticking with S/D against a single target until they try to run, or until you know all/most of your staff skills have recharged. Staff mastery isn’t really essential since the main damaging condition build mark, Mark of Blood, has only a 6 second CD. The only thing Staff Mastery hurts by not having it is Putrid Mark and Reaper’s Mark cooldowns. I play this now in WvW when i’m not using my support set:
Play it before it gets nurfed…..Fire+Terror = OP
The standard PvP build works in WvW too.
30/30/10/0/0
epi/spectral wall/spectral walk or something else situationally pending
Just focus on one target and AoE with epi. Control the fight using fear mark, fear wall, and tether.
You should win 1v2s pretty handily, and even higher numbers if there is any weak links in their group.

Do you have a build to link to? I’d like to see this. Also, why not 30 in spite for Close to Death instead of 20% CD on staff?
Your staff clear all condition in aoe, chill/poison in aoe, give regeneration in aoe and it fear in aoe. And you are telling me that the 20% reduce cooldown is kinda useless ?
The condition necro is more for smale scale pvp, you should look for a power/healing build for the WvW. Because in large scale combat, player die so quickly and your condition is more for a long time fight.

The reason the CD reduction is not worth the trait, is that you should be swapping into and out of staff every 10 seconds. That means that reductions to the 2 and 3 skills are meaningless, and the 4 and 5 skills may or may not be up in that 10 second window.
I agree if you plan to not use a weapon swap it is worth it. I find sceptor fine for ZvZ on a swap. You use it in conjunction with DS to deal lots of aoe pressure. When you are on staff, you can attack or use marks for 10 seconds then go back.
CD reduction is a very iffy thing. Things like enfeebling blood have a direct and dramatic effect, while CD reduction may make no difference at all in your fight.
Scepter + Epidemic = AOE.
Especially now with Poison lasting up to 7 or 8 seconds.
@ towelie: you apparently dont understand how powerful conditions are in WvW. you can pop all your staff skills and your now on CD. while that is going you should be stacking conditions with your S/D(do you know S/D has secondary affects on some skills also?). combine all that with epidmic and watch as peoples HP melts before your very eyes. the build im using is what a lot of necromancers are using because of how strong(close to OP) it is. you can effectivily kill 1v1,1v2, and 1v3(if your good).
wonder if it is possible for devs to put in a timer indicator on traits that go on CD. would make it easier to know when 15 seconds is up on Weakening Shroud and other skills that have a cooldown over 10 seconds.
