Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
If you think warhorn is the least used necromancer weapon, than you must not wvw all that much. I love warhorn since you never know when the extra swiftness could keep you alive, and focus suffers from clunky cast times in my opinon. Dagger is a solid defensive offhand choice when using a power build but I find that I don’t need the extra condition clear and that without conditions duration food, the weakness doesn’t last long enough, but it’s certainly useful when lemongrass isn’t involved.
Oh I also have howler so I guess I’m kinda forced to use warhorn all the time lol.
A blast finisher would be nice.
A blast finisher would be nice.
yes please,
it would be a step in the direction of goodness for Necromancers to be usefull in Group PvE
I really don’t think it’s the least used necro weapon.
Warhorn has the highest off-hand dps in PvE, it’s a cripple-machine in WvW and has the second highest life force regen potential after Necrotic Grasp. In any PvP environment the focus actually brings the least amount of utility, so regardless of build most necros decide between off-hand dagger and warhorn.
As to your proposed daze change (on #4, which does only 2 sec daze if not traited):
Imo this would actually be a nerf. The moa’s daze has to be directed at your opponent the entire time to repeatedly get the daze-pulses to hit. So this change would actually force you to stand still and prevent you from casting any other skills for 2 or 3 seconds.
And if your opponent moves out of the cone they won’t get the full daze duration at all.
However, if you’re suggesting that this change shouldn’t come with these negativ side effects and that the enemy should be dazed repeatedly regardless of either player’s positioning, I don’t think anet would allow us to have a semi-unbreakable stun.
So, the warhorn is probably the least used necromancer weapon.
nah, i dont think so. maybe it’s your least used weapon.
it’s my most used offhand (powermancer mainly). even in open world pve.
I propose a change to how Warhorn #5 works:
Rather than a 3 second Daze, make it deal 3 separate dazes that each last 1 second – similar to how a moa dazes you. This would actually make me consider using warhorn over focus, dagger or staff.
i think removing counterplay should not be the way to buff it.

Hm, yes, speaking as a WvW’er, I use warhorn a lot. Swiftness and cripple. ’Nuf said.
In PvE, not so much but I often use it in Orr if I’m choosing not to run Spectral Walk; again, for the swiftness mostly, but anywho it’s very useful. Otherwise in PvE it’s dagger OH.

That makes no sense. Theres barely any use for offhand dagger in PvE. Warhorn on the other hand is standard along with focus.
i barely play my necro, but when i do, always scepter/warhorn , staff
warhorn is in a perfect spot atm, i just think focus cast time needs to be reduced a little
All offhands are really well balanced atm, with the only big changes needed being blast finishers added for PvE, and Focus 5 getting a cast-time reduction to 1 second.
Also, I’m not sure if anyone else noticed this or not, but the first living story patch this season fixed Locust Swarm to be a proper 15 seconds with Banshee’s Wail.

I agree with that.
Instead of changing the warhorn daze skill, how about providing some more team utility in its 5th skill? Generally the warhorn is a team utility weapon, but its more of a selfish utility weapon in the hands of the Necro.
I think the 5th skill should also apply swiftness to allies. If the 11s of swiftness is too strong, then maybe the skill should give 11 ticks of 1s swiftness (ticks only when allies come into contact with the locust swarm)

You’re right spoj (as usual). I had been using WH in PvE, but then thought I’d try dagger OH. Not as good. Back to my WH. Using dagger/focus and axe/WH (with staff used for AoE/trash mobs) for CS. I don’t do dungeons typically so just need a PvE roaming/farming setup.
Offhand dagger definately has its uses in PvE. But its more of a niche defensive weapon. And you rarely need it.
