So the thing that was our biggest panic button for “I’m gettin bursted” situations as a core necro got changed to a well that’s not a well. Well, all’s well that ends at the bottom of one.

I care little for how “awesome” new elite may be offense wise, i care that our only deffensive elite option got removed. Plague was not perfect but it did one thing right – help us hold a capture point and survive a burst.
What was needed for it to be more interactive for the player and with viable options against moa transform and condi overload.

Now the “class of atriouciousness….erm pardon…attrition” is supposed to run from almost every possible engagement it seems….clap, clap, clap

The way you phrased it might imply that Plague was somehow exclusive to core builds. You could’ve just said: Plague From > Plaguelands.

Anyway… get over it. Plague was bad.
What you call panic button was really a turn-yourself-into-a-sitting-duck button.
And if that was your best way of defending against focus fire you should probably change your build.

Yey, for AN nerfing/removing what few protective skills we have. (while keeping the self harming aspects) As a pve player I never really used it much but can see how the stability and blindness would have been helpful.

It’s not that plague is only accessible to necro and not reaper. It’s that base necro doesn’t have access to RS3 and chilled to the bone stability which meant plague served as a very precious instant cast stability and blind. I think I mentioned this awhile ago but plague form needed the tornado treatment. Give it a #4 and 5 skill for more active presence and reason to not afk camp it.

I found the og plague useful in PvP even with reaper. Not as a gtfo/preventing a burst but as one of the few ways to get safe stomps for necro in team fights. RS3 was meh because you could still easily get pressured out of RS and chill to the bone had a cast time. If you got hit by a DH lb5/walls, it was also an easy escape to tap in and out of it without wasting RS. Never camped the form for that long.

With that said, they did give base Necro reveal on #5 so I don’t think they are screwing base Necro over intentionally.

Ideally, I think plaguelands should have been skill #5 on plague form or something to this affect where base PvP functionality is kept, but like lich #4, could be used also for DPS rotations in PvE. Could even force end plague form early when you press 5 for plague lands.

I am all for getting rid of that impotent transform but am less than thrilled at getting an elite skill that does very little damage after players notice the red circle beneath their feet and leave the area.

It is supposed to be an elite skill.

However, it could just pulse blind nine times, so there is that.

4 points people have made about Plaguelands:

1: Its a great way to keep people off cap points in pvp.
2: Finally a condi elite for pve that isn’t a gimmick.
3: It needs ground target or to follow you about.
4: I miss the oh kitten button, aka plague.

5. Loading nearly all of of the dps after the first couple of seconds is a huge tell that players will learn to counter.

Compared to doing almost no damage but, maybe, surviving, Plagueland is better for some content at the cost of a 20 sec high-powered defense but not the equal to Lich, Flesh Golem, or CttB. If it was 900 range targetable, it might almost be good. If it was targetable and pulsed Signet of Spite’s active, I would like it.

If it was targetable and pulsed Signet of Spite’s active, I would like it.

Every new pulse applies the previous conditions as well, so the later pulses are actually rather similar to Signet of Spite.

Yeah. and it applies up to 5 targets per pulse. So if the enemies stays inside the circle…… plagueland is much much better than signet of spite.

This is the part I have trouble with; the first couple of seconds, not the damage that increases afterward.

Please forgive the sarcasm but Necro has so many ways to stun lock people into staying inside the circle; especially on Curses builds. Perhaps it is good that Mh dagger is now stuck halfway into condition weapon territory. Bind, grasp, swap, grasp, chill, fear; how likely is it to keep someone inside a red circle for most of 9 seconds and what kind of build is best?

Or maybe he simply didn’t like plague form. I rarely ever used it myself, because I just didn’t like it. The DPS is gutter, and its only used to make yourself an aoe CPC with stab. Thats not gonna win you every fight when you can just kill the enemy instead. It’s effectiveness relies on how dumb the enemy is, A smart enemy will just stay close by and kill you after,

My main point here is that core necro loses a huge defensive skill (along with stab for stomps/resses), while the only thing reminescent of defensive (20% damage and condi reduction) is given to reaper, not core necro.

They took away a key skill (least for spvp and WvW) from a core necro giving nothing of similar functionality or role in return.

Fixed it for you. Blood fiend/flesh golem are arguably the best current pve necro heal and elite.

If an elite skill was only good as a once in a while save your but thing in WvW … then it was a good thing it was demolished into something else. Typically, things don’t gets fixed without breaking it first in MMOs

I’m having a very good time on regular necro now. Plagueland was awesome at first, then players learned not to stand toe-to-toe with me. Was nice to watch them beat on me, then melt from the condis. Power signet reaper seems to be very good now. Lots of boon stripping, condi transfer, and even 2 heals. Axe can now get up to 9-10,000 when invuls stack. Course this is WvW, don’t know about other modes. Hell tonite I had mismatch armor and runes and still kicked butt.

WAR Platinum Necro, HoD BL roamer/defender. Solo Keep/Tower capper.
