What EXISTING weapon would you like on Necro?
I was hesitant to want pistols only because I want to avoid being too much like mesmers. But the ideas I’ve been reading here have changed my mind. A phantasmal duelist is very different from the dark soul hunter we’d become. Something a la unholy Alucard would be insane, casting marks that would curse an area, firing corrupted bullets, blanketing an area in choking dust, etc.
I want off-hand pistol to “shoot” jagged horrors. It is my one and only wish, and I will give all of my monies to ANet to make it happen if I have to.

That would be hilarious.
The Tequatl fight highlights a weakness in Necromancers weapon selection and the importance of that “hole.” The profession really needs a single-target, long range weapon that focuses on direct damage and CC. It can be a fire arm, bow, even a trident, main hand horn or focus. Necromancer needs something other than staff for ranged damage. Most of staff’s skills require targeting and are designed for AoE.
Edit: Although, it might be fun to have a little voodoo doll we could stick pins in for direct damage.

Any 2h weapon. And for the comments who say “necro’s aren’t deathkngihts” make very little sense. A deathknight is sooooooooo awesome and has such an unquestionable relation to necromancy it’s silly to say otherwise. There were deathknights before WoW sry to burst your bubble. I hate it when people try so hard to stick to some form of what THEY think is a traditional necromancer or whatever else.
Open your mind? If you don’t want to play as a kitten death knight then u dont have to. Necro’s have scepter, focus, staff, etc blah blah. If you want ANOTHER off-hand condition spammer I don’t know what to say for this community. lol

Other 80s: Any but Warrior
Sword mainhand. Melee Cleave, would increase the use of vampiric skills. Instead of throwing movement on it like most melee skills have, to keep in line with the theme of necromancer being pretty slow for the most part, have the 2 skill be a leash that deals damage to a single target while either: A) Crippling them for the duration of the leash, or Pulsing damage to enemies near the target, maybe even both if the damage is small enough, but I’d prefer either/or.
For the 3 skill, since it’s usually a more burst-oriented skill, how about something a little different: the necro slashes at the target dealing medium damage and summons a Jagged Horror next to the target. The horror deals little damage, but inflicts a condition on the target with every hit (first thought is Torment or Bleeding, but Poison might work) and explodes when killed, inflicting 2 stacks of the same condition on nearby enemies. The horror would also only last for a brief period of time, 5-10 seconds at most, with the ability to blow it up early. This would give some synergy with Minion builds while not giving necro another perma-minion.

The profession could use (1) a long-range 1H, single-target, CC weapon with direct damage, daze, and pull target and (2) a short-range, 2H weapon with cleave, a channel, a finisher, and single target bleed, blind, torment, and weakness.

Just add a venom or burst skill (eye of Grenth? Grenthlazer?) and it’s already a complete set for a GS…
Gunslinger Ghost-Cowboy Necro.
Instead of bullets, he shoots ghosts. And those ghosts have guns of their own, that shoot more ghosts, and so on. Fortunately the chain gets broken when the target dies, just don’t fire the infinitely recursive ghostshot pistol at an invlunerable target like Jormag’s Tooth in Hoelbrak.

It no longer matters what it looks like to me as long as it happens soon. A lot of people want the great sword for its impressiveness. To quote Mander, “… I dream of (sic) waving something stupidly big…”

You make it sounds like a bad thing.
Joking aside, only Necro and Eng can’t use a sweet sweet BFS or just a normal sword (eles can conjure everything from axes to bows…), but at least engies have rifles and other decent ranged choices (staff autoattack with necros is shameful, imo: I keep it only for roaming and skipping mobs with fear).
I red the thread you linked and GS remains my first wish (the knock back suggestion picked my interest a lot).
I would like to see for a GS necro something like this:
“1” a chain attack (with bleeding or weakness stacking and cleave for last)
“2” something like the “mind stab” of mesmers, which should immobilize, cripple or corrupts 1 boon (area effect).
“3” fear for crowd control (only one target at a time).
“4” Brutal strike +spawn ability. Something like: "If you kill the target with it, spawn 1/2 bone minion(s). Use it again for putrid explosion(s).
“5” Something like the rangers “counterattack” but without the throw, just block the incoming attack and, if successfull, push back (area effect) and gain life force.
Edit: btw, what 100b is, if I may ask? 0.ò

Double pistols:
#1 Spirit shoot: 1 hit vuln, second hit X% life force gain.
#2 Chilling shoot: shoot a haunting ghost that stays around your enemy causing chill for X seconds
#3 Death chain: (chargable) hold down the key to drain your Life Force and unleash a powerfull shoot at your enemys
1 stage (10% LF used): deals dmg and inmobilze for X seconds
2 stage (20% LF used): Fires 2 shoots dealing chilling with the first and poison with the second for X seconds
3 Stage (30% LF used): Fires 1 big green bullet dealing X dmg based on LF and returning X% of dmg as health.
(each stage could be charged for lets say 1 sec each with a teait to reduce the charge time)
#4 Grim Reaper: Channeling the force of death shoot repeatedly at your target dealing dmg and stealing some life.
#5 Haunting shoot: fire at your target gaining life force and causing fear for X seconds depending on range.
Something like that could be fun to play, using life force as “fuel” for bullets.

Make a target-needing “leap” (like Dark Path kind of is), and I’d see them putting it in.
I doubt we would ever get a “leap” but a “pull”, now that might be possible.

I thought more like the Orr Wraith dashes, you turn into a whirling swarm of insects and dash on the ground to the enemy, but you dont trigger marks nor traps (and pulses from wells n kitten dont apply to you). It could be like the Sanctum Sprint dash, leaping/rushing for longer the longer you hold the button.
Then it would become another abused charge move like fiery rush, burning speed and golem charge.
at first i was doubting the torch but after the comments that ive read about the idea, im starting to lean on that idea.
my personal favorite interist is the dual wield swords idea. After i built my blood legion character & came across Soure Doomsday. (I was told that he was a powerful necromancer in the context of the game, even though he uses mesmer skills) After finishing up my personal story i quick logged on my necro who is in ash, to find out…that dual wielding swords doesn’t exist for my class. ever since that day Ive been jealous of Soure & wanting 2 swords.

Nope, since Wraith charge doesnt do damage unless it actually hits a enemy, when it does it stops *and you can stop it with minions/bodyblock it* So a dash with Dark path like mechanics, but instant start with a safe path instead of a delayed port that allows for hopping if used with Swalk.
A spectral torch sounds juicy as well.
I had two thoughts.
Thought 1: Shortbow. In essence, it’s a reverse axe; it’s a very potent weapon when you have high life force, but isn’t too great at generating it. It complements Death Shroud rather than fuel it.
1: Spectral Arrow (900); Deal damage to the target. If you have more than 50% Life Force, the attack deals 20% extra damage.
2: Deathchill Shot (900); Fire five arrows in a spread, applying Chill(1s). If the target is already Chilled (before the ability is used), deal double damage.
3: Spectral Volley (900); Fire a volley of eight arrows. Each hit applies Vulnerability and generates 1% Life Force.
4: Bone Mark (Point blank) (Mark); Place a mark at your feet. When triggered, deal damage and apply Bleed and Cripple.
5: Wailing Arrow (900); Fire an arrow at the target, dealing damage and immobilising them. Enemies near the target are Feared for 1 second.
With a few traits for it;
Unyielding Blast now also affects Shortbow abilities.
New Master Major (Soul Reaping); Haunted Arrows: Increases the duration of conditions while a Shortbow is equipped by 20%, and reduces Shortbow ability CDs by 20%.
Thought 2: Hammer. Necros don’t seem to really have a dedicated, close-range AOE weapon which controls its opponents. It works pretty good for Guardians, and it works fantastically for Warriors; why not Hammer? There’s also that cool dude in Cliffside fractal who’s more or less a Necromancer who wields a hammer.
1a: Bone Smash; Deal damage to your enemy and apply Vulnerability.
1b: Bone Crush; A longer attack which deals more damage.
1c: Sickening Vapors; Smash the ground, dealing damage and leaving behind a field which applies poison(1s) every second. Lasts 3 seconds.
2: Tainted Smash; Leap forward and smash the ground, dealing damage and applying Poison (8s). 6s CD; Blast Finisher.
3: Power Leech (600); Drain your target at range, gaining Might(12s) and 3% Life Force each time it deals damage. 8 ticks.
4: Bane; Smash the target with your hammer, dealing damage, knocking them down(1s) and removing up to two boons. For each boon removed, the knockdown lasts .5 sec longer. If no boons are removed, apply Cripple and Weakness for 5 seconds.
5: Unleash Power (Well); Channel life force through your hammer, consuming 20 life force over every second for 5 seconds. Every time you consume 8 Life Force, create a well in a random nearby location (up to 600 yd away), dealing (light) damage to enemies. After 3 seconds, these wells explode, causing Weakness, Vulnerability and Poison and dealing damage to targets inside them.
For traits, all of the Well-centric traits affect Unleash Power. Vampiric Wells, Ritual of Protection and Ritual Mastery work as stated. Focused Ritual lets you target the central point from which the spawned wells radiate. A few new ones, as well;
Diviner’s Hammer(Master Death); Critical Strikes with the Hammer have a chance to grant Fury to yourself and nearby allies. Reduces hammer ability CDs by 20%.
Anathema(Grandmaster Death); Increases the duration of your Poison fields by 30%(Or one tick, whichever is greater). Blasting a Poison Field will now also cause Crippled(3s) on enemies.

I didn’t really give many numbers because of that. There are a lot of things that could be OP about it, but overall I reckon it’s pretty okay.
Because of how a lot of systems work in the game, like dodging, overpowered abilities can be ‘okay’ because they can simply be avoided. There are a lot of things you can move about to adjust whether abilities are okay or not with that in mind.
i don’t think hammer fits a reaper. 2haxe really needs to be brought into this game and necros deserve them.

A lot of people are shouting for Greatsword, for melee & cleave; which I tend to agree with since there is definitely a gap in our current weapon choice for it.
I don’t however want another hoard of Twilight wielders. I think that a Trident would fit the bill a lot better. Why not open up the much under appreciated underwater weapons for land use. There are a lot of really good looking water weapons that just don’t get the time of day they deserve.

They already introduced the burning on Necros with Dhuumfire so a torch would be nice. To balance it they could reduce the activation chance on Dhuumfire.

Give it blind on hit abilities and then use Chilling darkness trait.

GS2: Leap that causes blindness on landing
GS3: Slam your sword down causing a well of some kind
GS4: Spin that tosses conditions. Could be poison, could be vuln, or maybe weakness
GS5: PBAoE blind or fear
Sword skills
S1: Slash attack that causes vulnerability
S2: Leap that causes blindness on landing
S3: Stab for bleed
S4: Slash for weakness
S5: Channeled life drain
Anyway that’s what I would like to see.

Imo it would be really cool if our life siphon spell from any wep would reapply a 1s freeze for every pulse of life steal we do.. seems like a cool concept to me personally.
I would go a little bit different take on MH & OH sword.
S1a: Spectral Blade (150); Cleave foes in front of you.
S1b: Scornful Slash (150); Cleave back.
S1c: Spiteful Slash (150); Cleave again and gain 1 second of Retaliation.
S2: Haunt (900); Send a Death Shroud version of you toward a foe, dealing damage and chill your target.
(Can be used while CC’d, but no stun break)
S3: Dark Mark (900); Inscribe a mark that teleport you to foes when they trigger it. Weaken them.
S4: Feint (150); Stab your foe twice, blinding them. Unblockable.
S5: Reaper’s Walk; Gain Stealth. Transform boons on foes around you into conditions.
Stealth on necro? hm.. seems out of place
