It seems to me that Anet wants the Necro to be sort of active and “aggressive” in their defense – Which in my opinion is rather fitting, taking into account that the “Necromancer” in Guildwars 2 is more of a “Plague Caster” than a conjurer of the dead.

Therefore I though that if the skill “Chilling Darkness” (Blinding a target will also apply Chill) also worked the other way (Chilling a target also applies Blind), we’d have quite a potent defense, while sticking to the theme of debilitating our enemy instead of going all Guardian and rely on Boons.

Does this seem over-powered? The two conditions do have the rather annoying (For the enemy at least) synergy that blind (Used properly) will basically nullify any attack, while Chill will increase the cool-down of said attack – Which can probably be rather devastating in the right situation.

On another note, I believe I heard a rumor somewhere that Anet wanted to rework some of the Necro’s weapon-skills (May have been wishful thinking, on the rumor-spreading party’s part though…), and if that is the case I was thinking that for example they could remove the retaliation effect on Unholy Feast (Axe 3) and added a Chill effect instead, this could all be quite interesting… Thoughts?

Then necros can fit in 5 chilling skills without any problems and that is without sigils, runes and traits + the well of darkness. Sounds good :P, no but there is no way that will ever happen. That trait is really powerful as it is, even more so with plague in wvw.

The trait is already arguably too good for a 10 point trait, when you have plague.

If we could blind someone every 5-10 seconds on top of that? Sign me up for the pain train.

Yeah I guess when you put it like that, it’d be pretty OP – Though I may just not have noticed, but I don’t see people picking the trait too often, when they post their builds… Any thought on why? Or am I just missing it? :P

a) it would be grandmaster slot
b) with my setup that already permachills its 1 blind every 3 seconds
c) Holy kitten would thieves and warriors whine about it thus:

I LOVE IT even if it will never happen.

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

It would have to be a separate trait high up; most likely GM slot. Having both would be disgusting hilarious, you’d have to give up a lot build-wise elsewhere to make up for that.

… its 1 blind every 3 seconds…

Hm that sounds familiar.. as if there was a class that could already do that….

oh right. Thieves.

I’d be all for it since the chills necros have far outnumber the natural blinds they have. That said, blind spam is already a little out of control so just as well that they don’t have it.
