One thing I don’t hear people talking about is vulnerability, but it really increases damage a lot so including a big source of vuln should be pretty effective for PvE.

Unfortunately necro’s vuln application isn’t that amazing. Even if you use Axe and Well of Suffering at the start of a fight you won’t hit 25 vuln on the main target. Also, the vuln traits are pretty weak atm although with reaper GS, Bitter Chill will be more worthwhile.

If they’d remove the ICD on Chilling Darkness we could do a combo with Bitter Chill and all 3 Wells to blast with Putrid Mark for 14 vuln instantly and it would tick up to 25 quickly. Would that make Necro good in PvE? Maybe Anet should consider taking the ICD off that trait.

Well it depends on. Necro can stack amazing vuln in a DS build especially if the enemy is low. The main problem is it is not “bursty”, it slowly builds up. But a solo necro can get 25 might and 25 vuln on its own with his DS.

That is also why despite having lower DPS, the DS is often recommended over the dagger build.

Like you said, building it up over time isn’t good enough. As things are right now a ranger actually buffs the party’s damage way more between sun spirit, frost spirit, and how much vuln they can apply right away.

problem is, you can stack 25 vuln reasonably fast (well of suffering → fokus 4 → DS). But as soon as you get out of shroud you have to use axe 1 or it will drop to around 10 vuln. So 25 vuln for party = even worse dps from necro.

Vuln is really easy for necro now. Even dagger necro gets a decent amount with Rending Shroud just by flashing DS.

However just about every other class has far more vuln than they previously had as well. Vuln is incredibly easy to come by these days. It used to be something groups struggled with and that would have been the best time to give necro some. But now that its such an abundant condition its too late. And it wont make a difference.

Just like giving more might, vuln is one of those shared support mechanics that basically everyone brings and just about any group will max out on, so adding it to Necro won’t help any. We need unique support, things no one else brings to create a niche, nothing short of that will work.

Or something that has multiple uses would certainly help. For example blast finishers to be on par with other classes. But we also need something else.

This one of many issues where necro currently has something, but another class can do it faster and better like bleeds, blinds and vuln.
