What if they added new skills to death shroud
It would have to be a specialization, with some other changes to the profession, because adding extra abilities has a really high potential for power creep. They managed to do it well with DS 5 but there is only so much you can add.

Eh personally I think they could be added to the base class but have a low scaling at start.
This would prevent power creep and address some of the problems the class has.
It would also give them something that death magic & blood magic lines could boost so that those trait lines could finally be useful but in a balanced way.
OR think of it this way, the abilities would be so-so to start out with (nothing too amazing) but should the necromancer chose to spend traits boosting their support ability & defense (instead of offense) said abilities could be boosted via traits.
It could be balanced rather well and makes sense. The main reason necro is not wanted at all in PvE is their lack of ally support & Spvp they suffer from ally support & defense (which makes them the prime target to focus).

It depends on what the skills are.
For example, I always thought that a channelled block or reflect would be an excellent DS skill.
DS degens naturally so using a channelled block would trade your damage and natural health degen for whatever damage that the block prevented.
Likewise an out of combat mobility/teleport skill involves trading deathshroud degen/HP/DS recharge for extra mobility.

It’s an interesting idea, but having a complete bar of 10 skills as your class mechanic is a bit much.
Also, if those skills are always the same, no matter the build/utilities/weapons, all kinds of necro builds would feel very same-y.
And giving the necro a lot of things other classes have to use utility slots for ‘for free’ on these skills sounds kinda lame.

Ideally though they would be skills that would consume life force to work.
This would help keep them balance.
As for it making builds feel same-y, don’t they already while in death shroud.
Where giving them 6-9 skills where other classes have to use utility skills. YA some other classes players could say it is unfair, but it’s just to solve the various design issues causing necro’s to be unwanted in PvE & Spvp.
The things causing us to be unwanted are completely unrelated to deathshroud’s “lack” of skills. “Fixing” those issues by adding skills doesn’t actually fix the issues at all. I’m not saying they could never add DS skills, but I don’t think adding them to the base profession without any “cost” (traits, specializing, things like that) is the right way to go.
I would welcome a small modification on DS#1 based on the mainhand weapon and a small modification to DS#4 based on the offhand weapon. Not to create a power creep but to adapt DS a little bit more to the chosen playstyle .
It would be interesting if you could add a skill that transfers the remaining life force in deathshroud to your health. I.E. you press 6, and the remaining Life Force, or percentage thereof, gets transferred to health and you have a longer cooldown to get back into DS upon use. Of course you would be immediately kicked out of DS but perhaps a trait could grant you stability upon exiting DS or getting kicked out of DS due to lack of life force. Could come up with a clever name, like death into life.
