What is your least used trait and why?
unholyfervor ( because axe is terrible)
terrifiyingdecsent ( no words )
Banshee’s wail (effect is lack luster)
unyielding blast (even in reaper it is bad)
soul eater (plain bad)
life from death ( no 1 uses it)
quikening thirst (speed is good the recharche is pointless)
Fear of Death.
Because Spectral Mastery and Vital Persistence are far superior.
Fear of Death has it’s merits but compared to the two it’s paired with it’s just never worth taking for me.
Maybe if Unyielding Blast and Fear of Death were combined, say, apply Vulnerability when you apply Fear, your Fear effects have increased durations, remove the AOE Fear when downed, I might take it. As it currently stands though, it needs to be moved or I’ll never use it. Much like the situation that Poison Master is in with Ranger. Both are good in their own right but their position in the trait trees make them unusable.

Oddly, Putrid Defense. It’s a good trait, but in PvP, I want Shrouded Removal if I’m not running minions. In PvE, I’m generally not running Death Magic at all. I might run once I start raiding, though.
Second one is Fear of Death. If it were merged with Terror, it’s a possibility, but otherwise no. The other options at the tier outclass it in every situation.
Just one? Unholy Martyr, it is terribad. Doesn’t provide ample support for allies and the LF isn’t worth it when you’re pulling chill or a bunch of damaging condis. If it was swapped into death magic, and changed to give condi removal on allies when you use shroud 5 we might be close to a real support build for the first time ever.
Other traits that are bad in pvp:
- any on death effect
- All the death magic minors should be better (even the prot is weak)
- Gluttony
- GS trait (also GS)
- axe traits
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.
Oddly, there isn’t any trait on the necromancer that I don’t want. It’s more that there are some trait that are not in a good form or have to much impact in the traitline making other choice pale in comparison.
- Spitefull spirit : need something else to stand it’s ground with close to death and Signet of suffering
- Lingering curse : Simply put, I think this trait kill the 2 other traits. Something have to be done in order to transform this trait into something that does not make or break condi specs and especially scepter specs.
- Unholy martyr : this thing definitly need a rework or something that improve it.
- Soul eater : Disapointing trait, there is hardly any reason to use it. Siphon on gravedigger, while at the level of a darkfield/whirl combo, feel like a bad joke.
There are too many, but a single trait I have never used for more than 30 minutes after Spec patch release is Fear of Death followed by Unholy Martyr.

Fear of death is also on my black list. It is a holdover from back when Terror was worth more, there were less condition clears, and Necromancer was ridiculously susceptible to hard CC.
