GW2 has nerfed condition reaper so far into the ground and left the true insert word meaning sh— here known as dragonhunter traps UNCHANGED. wtf GW2. Reaper was fine. We could be beaten by condi chronos which are OP, and other builds, why would you nerf us so f-ing much that we can’t do anything with chill now. you LOWER the ability to apply chill, then remove chill doing damage SO THERE WAS NO POINT IN LOWER THE DURATIONS!

I had the exact same reaction

I was really excited about everything in the notes, it all sounds great to me. Improvements to stability, reductions of the “baby gates”, some cool reward stuff for WvW.

The only thing I read that made me upset was the changes to necromancer. The blurb states that they were looking to tone down the damage that chill had brought by making it harder to apply chill – fine. they reduced the duration of chill on a number of skills – fine. Then the very last item states: “Deathly Chill: This trait no longer causes chill to inflict damage but instead applies 8 seconds of bleeding each time you apply chill to an enemy.”

Then what was the point of the lip service to making it more difficult to inflict chill as a solution to it being to strong. You replaced a valid condition for DPS with (apparently?) a single stack of the weakest condition in the game?

I havent seen it in action to know if it is really a single stack but in my book that has completely gutted condi necro again. I had finally found a viable condi build for WvW that could tick out decent DPS. But bleeding has no place in it. You simply cant attain enough stacks to make a difference before someone clears it. but 3 seconds of chill at ~700 damage a second was definitely noticeable and viable.

very disappointed by this. They reduced the recharge on all wells to boot, so basically they are saying they want everyone to go back to pirateship wells.

Each chill application applies 1 stack. So yes, I’m afraid it really killed the class

They make chill almost impossible to keep up, fine, they remove chill damage for bleeding, fine, they reduce necromancer stability, fine. and by fine I mean what the actual f—-. Necromancer should be the CONDITION profession and so far Mesmers and Engineers can apply more, and harder hitting condis than necro. even Revenants can do this.
We get SOME torment, not a lot, SOME poison, not a lot, and a sh— ton of bleeds. we don’t need more f-ing bleeds.

They killed the competitiveness of the class to make other classes better.

There is a vid on YT on how the elite specs ranked among each other, and reaper was #2. Now it is probably at the very bottom.

Necros had their fun time with condi. Time for something new and more creative perhaps.

Was nice while it lasted. Wish they had done something for power builds. Stab nerf effects them too unfortunately.

Let us all become minion masters lol

The only thing I think they should have done, if anything was 1/2 the chill damage. they’d already done it once, why not again.

If you played condi necro, you were pretty much scum of the earth. The amount of conditions it put out and the damage of chill was WAY too high. No class or build could sustain clearing or living through those conditions because it was too heavy.

Now we can finally see people playing a little differently again instead of every necro in PvP and WvW running condi cheese since it was higher DPS than any power build put out and the necros could live forever.

meaning while Mesmer remains untouched

and to the OP:
Dragon hunter got a pretty hefty Nerf on true shot, and ToF damage got nerfed again.
in the end, necros r still higher than guard the latter which may or may not be lower than warriors

Life blast should hit twice and have its damage halfed
If Rocket Charge is only 2 leaps then it should look like 2 leaps
True Shot should be cast on the move

Hello, why aren’t power builds a viable option for reapers?

The problem of the reaper is that it’s a melee shroud, making it really easy to fight for all the classes that can kite him.

The problem of the chill nerf is that the reaper never was a total condition damage, it was a Hybrid, with both direct and condition damage. If you look there was no one using Rabid, that is the best condition amulet and grant a large amount of synergy with different traits, but everyone used Carrion/Mercenary, why there was Power to inflict a good amount of direct damage, expecially with traits to increase the critical rate while in shroud or based on the enemy vulneravility amount, making the reaper able to inflict direct damage barely good as the dps build.

Actually we lose a large amount of our condition damage, if you don’t fight a class that use boons you can always convert into Damage conditions (a large amount of boons don’t inflict damage conditions when converted) or use conditions that you can reflect back (there’s a low amount of classes that use conditions).

There’s a lot of direct damage build, but the best direct damage build was the old necro shroud, but is too weak to compete with the specializzations (expecially for the lack of stability and mobility), forcing players to use the reaper, that is a really big problem to who want to use only the direct damage and not both cirect and condition damage why is melee and don’t grant you enough increased damage to face the risks that a pure melee build have.

Actually the best build I see is the MM, still with conditions but with a rework to Blighter Boons instead of chill.
