Hey Ho,

i am going to craft Ascended Gear. What stats would you recommend for a Zerg Reaper?

I tried Shout-Reaper in the 2. beta and was impressed. But i dont know if this build will be “the right one”. (Mostly guild group of 10-20 people against the rest of the world (vs. world) )

I have the feeling that shout reaper does work well in zerg frontline… I would personally go for soldier. I played it with “Death Perception”, giving up on “Foot in the Grave” for the extra crits. By doing that, I think the reaper is the highest damaging class in the frontline while still fairly survivable.

Core necro is better in the back line, with mainly zerker armor.

I was playing around with a DM, SR, Reaping set up, using Cavalier stats, shouts, GS and axe/focus (yes, I know these suck, but you won’t use them much. This build is built around staying in shroud as much as possible, and as many bonus’ while being in shroud. It is very tanky, and can have good base damage and survivibility, but you will miss out on the Might stacking from Spite, but it can be made up if playing in a group. Was not able to test it out in a group that I felt comfortable with.

Problem with playing Reaper with the frontline is that when things get bad, and things always get bad when well bombs & cc’s start dropping, Reapers lack the invulns, blocks, evades, teleports/leaps, etc.. to survive the heat. So to play a Reaper frontline, you have to get out of dodge before well bombs & cc’s start dropping. In doing so, you lose out on dps and kind of miss the point of rolling with the melee train. This is assuming you’re fighting competent zerg groups, not just 1 pushing them.

If you’re ok with being the melee with least defensive abilities, then ok. Soldiers is your best bet, you want to be as tanky as possible without sacrificing power.

Alternative route which is what I prefer, is to play a mid-line necro. Gear up zerker + valk, mostly zerker but you slot enough vitality to hit 20k’ish lifeforce. You’ll end up with just as much power and almost as much ferocity as a current meta wellmancer. Load double wells, drop the wells as commanders call them. Then leap in and chop things up when you see an opportunity to do so, because we all know zergs in WvW inevitably clash. The extra lifeforce will help you out when you leap in and get within melee range to dish some pain. And Reapers wearing zerker + valk can dish some serious melee cleave damage.

Hope this helps, cheers.

I quite agree with the lack of invuln/escapes. It was not too bad BWE1 with RS 2 going straight in front, but this time RS 2 just went randomly and it seems I could not NOT target someone… So yes, when things went bad, I died… It is sad but at the same time didn’t remove the fun I had playing this

Here is a baseline of what my Guilds Reapers gonna run in WvW Raids around 20-man, we gonna run it in smaller version and just alter some for Solo Roam.

Basicly the Gear gives you good power , Toughness, Vitality and Ferocity with ok Precision that boosts with the 2 Traits Decimate Defences and Death Perception. Hope it helped.

A mix of Valkyrie,Knights + Zerk Weapons and runes we think well with Hoelbrak + Relentless Pursuit so we took them over Strenght Runes.
