I do a mix of dungeons and WvW. Mostly WvW for the long term once I complete my TA set. Which would you guys recommend? Looking at 6x Undead or Krait/Centaur/Afflicted but open to other suggestions.

I play as a condition, stacking Tough/Prec/Cond Dmg

Thanks!

I would suggest Undead for WvW. Condition cleanses run rampant there, so it’s best to squeeze out as much damage as you can. Bleed duration doesn’t make a difference except on Barbed Precision as no other bleeds should be expected to run their full course.

For my condition set, I switched to necromancer runes. they are not as power in the damage department for overall condi output, but my duration on fear and vitality makes Death shroud much nicer along with terror play. Good for countering Melandru runes also.

Go to gw2 buildcraft and try a few sets out. With a few exceptions (Undead and Vampirism being maybe a couple of them, similarly if you’re trying to squeeze out as much fear duration as possible), as far as I can tell we’re usually better off just going with gems.

Go for damage and toughness or vitality. Make sure you have enough precision to crit sometimes but high power is best for wvw.

You should not short condition damage, though, because you want the conditions to be damaging enough so they cannot be ignored. Then, after they have burned their condi-removal skill, hit them again to force a retreat. This kind of zerg and siege condi-artillary has a lot of value to your group. Do not expect a lot of kills just applying conditions but you will get some when the high-dps players use the advantage you just gave them.

In the end, if you are in a good group, you can go glass cannon and spread a lot of misery from the second line. Your staff, when traited, is very influential, if not powerful like mes or ele.

as for non condition runes, consider Lyssa runes. The powerful effect on elite skill works like a charm with flesh golem.

Alternatively, Mad King runes. Those birds can be used almost as often as Charge and add a ton of damage (and lots of siphon if you have the Vampiric trait)

In WvW I use x3 afflicted and 3x krait. This lets me get 100% bleed duration while giving plenty of condition damage. The condition duration is somewhat important due to how frequently people use melandru runes and lemongrass soup.

Other things that I could recommend, based on my sPVP experience, would be Earth Runes. The protection effect and the magnetic shield will bail a necromancer out of a jam time and time again. They can be used with pretty much any set, but I think they would have the most impact on power necros. They are quite expensive, though…

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

I’ve messed with some of the ‘proc near death’ effect sets, and I really think they need to up the % at which they proc. Maybe to 40% or 50%, like our Last Grasp skill in Soul Reaping, which is always useful. Because down around 20% its easy to be spiked right through those effects before they come up and they can be unreliable.
