Which class next?
warrior.
After playing necromancer, I played necromancer, because necromancer is awesome and denying it means you are unworthy of playing a class that requires skill.

Usually when I play MMOs, I end up with 3-4 Endgame “Mains”
I am not denying necromancer is fun, It was just not what I was expecting :P
I feel like necromancer can be pulled into alot of different directions and I really enjoy that (despite the current state of many traits)
now I’m looking to fill other playstyles. I used to always have a “Healer”, “Tank” and “DPS”, with this game, I want to explore what other possibilities there are amongst the different classes as well.
If being annoyed that a button or trait in my character doesn’t do what it claims to do makes me unworthy, then kittens to that :P
I’m keeping my necro. Now I’m seeing what else is out there, thats all. I am asking opinions this time because I essentially rolled a necromacer “blind” knowing very little about this game or it’s classes at all – this time I just thought I’d ask others opinions.

Necromancer will always be my main and my most played class. There quite well rounded and needed for WvW and PvE farming which i play the most.
Engineer will be my next class to play, there quick and remove conditions like Necromancers. Can be built and played in all different ways switching from support to damage in seconds and do a ton of damage with grenade speced build in WvW.
Thief and Mesmer i wont be playing as there broken with no major nurfing in sight and i dont like playing easily overwhelming classes, i like to earn my kills!
Guardian isnt my taste, too tanky orinated with less damage output then they should be doing, i prefer the happy medium classes.
Ranger is ranger, same old and predictable for the archer class, not my thing.
Warrior If they had a ranged hundered blades skill id be all for it but im not a fan of close ranged melee classes. Slow moving and easily countered.

I have 5 classes. Necro is the one lagging on getting 80 simply because several other guildies had one.
1) Guardian: basically a ret paladin. (or any melee healer spec’d for dps) Incredibly easy to level. The only weakness is range capabilities are near zero. You have good pulls, speed buffs, and gap closers though.
2) Ranger. Everything you expect.
3) Mesmer. The two tricks to mesmer is that it probably doesn’t play like anything you know and you kind of have to go all-in with a certain playstyle. If you aren’t min/maxing gear and traits you’ll do almost no damage.
4) Ele. You really are a glass cannon. Like a necro with half the HP, not draining any HP, and no f1. Eles can also be spec’d very defensively or make good healers.
I’ve hit 80 on my necro a week or so back and am currently working on a guardian on and off. It really was a breath of fresh air. I’ve had some trouble trying to stay in melee range all the time but that will change once I get used to it. I’m loving how supportive I can be as a guardian and there are so many options for builds that is pretty overwhelming coming from a necro where it’s basically condition or power, everyone running around with at least one dagger and one staff.
For ‘big numbers’ I’d go with warrior or thief or possibly engineer, assuming no future nerfs and depending on how you gear/trait the character, and for ‘healing’ I would go with either elementalist or guardian.
Honestly we can’t really help with the ‘what class should I pick?’ except to say to try them and see which you like.
Thanks for all the informative posts
I will probably stay away from thief. The whole “pop out of steath and deal massive amounts of damage” was never really my style.
Rangers also sound rather ishy.
Sounds like Engineers could be lots of fun!
Started with Necro (did not think about bugs) and leveled it to 80, geared him up and then started looking for diff builds etc.
Then one day I decided, Ill level a Thief. Leveled it to 80, was fun, tried lots of diff build types, diff weapon combos, it was very versatile and capable of doing some awesome damage, turns the tide of battles imo when you have 2 good thieves working together. Went back to my necro, played a bit (to do arah) and felt lackluster.
Then I rolled a guardian and I was like, HOLY CRAP, this is fun, easy, and I have so much utility. I can heal, cleanses conditions on a huge amount of people and increase my healing. I hit hard (semi – hard), i have good abilities, and ALL my traits synergize, like my thief.
Now I don’t go back to my necro as much. I refuse to play a mesmer, as I feel they are overpowered, I see to many of them in WvW, I hate butterflies, and the color pink.
