So i thought i should go for a legendary and i cant decide wether i get incinirator or frostfang. I currently have CoF armour so i was thinking going for incinirator but it doesn’t really have nice affects like the frostfang with the number 2 skill. please help

Game don’t have any necro-style legendary yet. (well, maybe underwater trident, but totally not worth it)

The frost axe. Seems like a good match for a death/frost/undead mage…. doesn’t it?

I’m just gonna wait for the new legendaries to be released. And hopefully there is a staff that is good for necro.

As it was said above none of the current legendaries really fits the necro, the closest will be frostfang but an ice breathing dragon thing for a necro seems… odd… On a giant norn warrior makes perfect sense though (raging viking warrior and whatnot). Honestly rather than a legendary there are several other options you can look at in terms of crafting and buying that is more in line with the “necro look.”

• The focus “anomaly” (because who doesn’t like having their hand look like a purple hadouken?!) Really cool looking but very expensive.
• Alternatively there are 2 focuses (one is glowing purple and will cost your left kidney, the other is glowing blue, will cost half of your left kidney) that looks like a piece of a chain dangling from your fist (the name escapes me at the moment
• Yet another focus choice is a shrunken head skull I believe, again the name escapes me but maybe others in this thread will fill it in.
• There is no point in getting a more appropriate staff for the necro because by default the necro staff turns into a scythe, which is as necro as it gets. My guard has the final rest because it is the next closest staff that looks like the death scythe (aside from the halloween scythe skin).
• There is a mace that is literally a femur, which would’ve gone great with a necro but sadly… we can’t use a mace…

just get your gifts for legendary that are not legendary specific like the fortune one and wait a few months collecting all sorts of materials and gold to make the new legendaries.
godskull dagger, sacrificial blade of komalie, malefactorym (plague dagger) and so are necro-ish
scepter has many i especialy like the pirate one and zaithan’s reach,
the skull focuses are Adam and gaze.
axe: ophidian, the transparent purple one, kryta’s salvation, dreadwing are nice but none are very necro-ish in the classical sence, the mace kevin would have been such a cool weapon for us though..

Any of the Arah weapons look at least somewhat Necro-ish.
If you don’t mind splurging, the scepter Eye of Rodgort is super Necro-ish (and expensive), just preview it and you’ll see.
As for a staff, The Crossing is a great fit (undead hand holding a ghostly green glowing lantern). It got a lot more expensive since Halloween tho.
And I’m very much hoping that a legendary worthy of us will come out soon.

There is no good legendary for necromancers right now. I first thought about getting myself the howler but it seems to bug out on almost all skills and you get an annoying howling in a loop. Instead I got myself The Crossing and Spirit Links which i think are more fitting then the Anomaly. They both cost about the same. For other weapons I suggest the Jade Skins for now.

The Crossing can still be crafted, even if you didn’t participate in the Halloween event, by the way.
I am working on mine, as it is cheaper than buying it off TP.
However I was able to snatch 20 of the Sigils of Night for a fair price, when the staff was still going under 100g.
I have bigger problem to find CoE groups for my tanky necro, might as well make the money for it too…

I use Eye of Rodgort and Destroyer Dagger/Malefactorym along with Deathwish, my favorite staff skin. It’s a beautifully updated version of the GW1 Bonestaff if you are familiar.

As far as legendaries go, Frostfang is really the only remotely Necro themed weapon.

Legendary’s are a waste on a necro atm imo

Most of them are ugly as hell even for other classes.

Most of the ones mentioned seem more “necro” appropriate.

Step One: Get the most flamboyant armor set you can find.
Step Two: Dye it entirely purple and pink
Step Three: Make Bifrost
Step Four: Go to WvW

EDIT: Also for the sake of seriousness, you’ll find that the fashion taste of Necros on this board are ‘Skulls and Bones or go home’. However that being said, I agree that Frostfang actually makes a good looking skin, especially with all the cripples and chills we have at our disposal to snare with.

Frostfang and Kraithkin are the two legendaries that currently really fit necros. Unfortunately, Kraithkin is an underwater weapon so you never get to really show it off.

I would collect the basics for a legendary, but not craft one yet. Wait till we get the new batch of Legendaries, and then craft one that actually looks like a necro weapon. Because we don’t have proper necromancer-themed legendaries at the moment.

Yeah that’s what I’m doing as well. Gift of Mastery is done and working on Gift of Fortune. I’m really hoping for a sweet Necro-themed Legendary staff or dagger in the next batch.

I believe you are referring the two chain skins, one is the purple misty one, but…the other one glows as well? Didn’t know that, seemed like a regular chain to me.
Can anyone confirm this “glowing”?

Bifrost really should have a unique scythe animation on it. It’s such a waste.

I made incinerator a long time ago on necro and I don’t regret it at all, looks great and a dagger fits in fine for most kinds of builds. Also, if you have it mainhand it changes the projectile animation in deathshroud to a mini spinning fire dagger, which is pretty neat.

Incinerator and Frostfang look awsome on Necro.
Although I’ld prefer if the legendary just transformed the projectiles skills to a fiery/icy version rather than throwing the weapon itself.

Might be coming in today’s patch. Lindsey Murdock mentioned it got a new projectile effect among other things.

Having done the math, I’m pretty sure it’s cheaper just to buy it off the TP. :/

It costs 110g to make. Highest buy order is 135g, lowest sell price is 190g. I made mine when it cost about 140g on TP and it was quite a kitteneaper to make due to sigil of night and therefore candy corn being cheaper.

I’ve been curious what Life Blast looks like for Incinerator and Frostfang. I’ve looked all over youtube and can’t find it. Does anyone have this that can show us a screenshot?

Terrible. The frostfang animation for lifeblast put me off getting it. Got howler instead and getting kraitkin next.

Nope but its basicly a feeble ice bolt (might be a mini frostfang). If they reskinned the regular lifeblast to be icey then I would get it. But they completely removed the shadowy effect and the projectile is much smaller and unimpressive. Its horrible.
