Why are the minions so useless?
Minions are very nice in that their stats don’t scale with yours. While in some ways this is a detriment, it means the necro can completely neglect offense and the minions will still do their respectable DPS.
Or, at least that’s the theory. The AI issues make it so this isn’t the case.
Hmm I do agree that minions should regen out of combat. I mean, the Flesh Golem does it. If we have permanent lasting minions, I don’t see why we need to be resummoning them every time we decide to fight something v.v
However, we can dismiss them before fighting by simply just changing the utility slot to something else, then switching back. That is a bit of a hassle though, so I don’t bother. And from personal experience, if they are near enough, they tend to attack whatever enemy you used your #1 on. I don’t know if that’s actually the case, but that seems to be how it works for me.
I find that you can get over the healing issue by spamming Mark of Blood if you’re using a staff or using life transfer with that major trait in Blood Magic that heals people when you use #4 DS. But yeah, chances are, your minions are going to die more often then not… Flesh Golem dies so quickly even if it is an elite, and monsters are just magically agro’d to my bone fiend…..
Their on use ability is rather nice, but they die in very few hits, they don’t regen health out of combat like normal players. We can’t dismiss/kill them to start the cooldown before a fight, we can’t control them/force them to attack X target.
I’ve played quite alot of spvp as a necro and I’m currently leveling my necro up, but even the elementalist pets seems more usefull than the necro?
Is it like this high-end dungeon / solo farm wise?
I can tell you right now ele pets are not as good as necro ones, but if you want the necro pets to have any amount of survivability you’re pretty much stuck using the trait for more hp on them. It’s not a perfect fix but it does make a huge difference.
if you want to regen their health, put enough in the blood line to use the trait to heal allies with life transfer. Popping a well of blood then life transfer heal will refill their hp nearly to full even if it’s almost gone. Also the staff mark will regen them some, but regens as a whole are a joke so don’t rely on that to heal your minions.
The cooldown reset on them is one of the bigger issues I will agree. If you’re not gonna run skills to heal them then resetting them in between fights is a major problem. Not to mention if they all die in a fight, and assuming you’re bold enough to run all minions, 50% of your skills are now out of play. That is a huge issue we all hope will be addressed soon. As far as pvp goes, even when minions are fixed, I seriously doubt they will ever be very viable in any pvp setting. Players just QQ far too much and the second someone runs a powerful minion build in pvp the crying will begin and nerfs will happen.
Edit: before I get flamed for saying the minions will never be viable in pvp, I’m talking about the build as a whole, I know that a fixed flesh golem will become a staple elite in pvp one day, and possibly other single minions in certain builds once the fixes are implemented, so keep your angry retorts to yourselves :p
