Why do the devs hate power necro?
http://www.twitch.tv/disasterdrew
They didnt nerf power necro, they nerfed ALL pve drainbeads running the full zerker meta, which is a step in right direction.
They failed at the 1 trait for power necro though, only the condi ones seem interesting and theyre even further pushing condi necro into spite tree
Its a full zerker meta IN PVE ONLY in wvw there is no such thing….
Plus zerker is still the top damage so the change will do nothing to alter that meta.
http://www.twitch.tv/disasterdrew
thing with that flumek in pve power is the only thing that is viable and the changes to traits seem to gut power necro in less they make changes to condition damage witch
you know they are not… sense it been a issues sense i even started playing… most necro’s are frowned upon in dungeons almost every other class aside for say ranger
can bring everything we can plus more damage so why even both with power necro any more we got no combo fishers “in less you use the staff” are dark fields are the worst in
the game.. necro needs new power traits to actually make it effective in pve or some new uiltily like reflection or something to be viable in high fotms etc etc.
I hoped for just a tiny bit of good news. But nope. Devs have no idea what needs to be done for necro in pve.
They put heal from condis in the Condi Duration line.
Why is everyone in the entire world not realizing this.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
And they have Dhuumfire in that line because who would ever want a power trait in a power line….

Close to Death is a Power trait at the GM level of Spite.
The ignorance. I’m reeling.

lol @ cogbyrn really trying to defend the awful changes.. but anyways it wont matter as this will be deleted.. and a “omg necro will be so good now” will be created and stickyed soon
Its not about the spite line. Its that they refused to give anything to power necros. Would of been nice to have a power trait in curses.

No matter if the changes are good or bad, what cogbyrn said was right. Spite is a power and condition duration line so having condition based traits is fine.
It would be fine if they gave soul reaping a power related trait … but no they give a dumpy hard to proc heal for ally’s only that literally no one will use.

The Power/Condition Duration line that benefits both Power and Condition builds had a Power GM trait and a Condition GM trait.
Just thought you’d like to know, since you don’t seem to know that.

You can’t be serious, so I’m assuming Troll. If so, you can’t expect people not to fall for it around here, because people legitimately complain about things like that with no actual basis for information.
But yes, I fell for it. Grats. I’ll send you a star sticker to put this forum page on your fridge if you’d like.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
You can tell this guy is from Fort A***ole wood.
Why would I not be serious? crit damage trait line….makes perfect sense to have a new trait that benefits power builds.
I am quite aware of the fairness of having both a condi and a power trait in that line. What I’m saying is they added NO new power traits while adding 2 new condi traits.

Seems appropriate. Since I’m also from FA and a necro main, I guess being reasonable posters just comes with the territory.
I suppose you guys don’t remember when they added deathly perception? That didn’t exist at one point. They also moved axe training down, moved targeted wells to an easier position, and buffed axe tremendously. Also buffed life blast. Power necros aren’t in a bad place, and after all condi necros went through, I’m happy they aren’t touching power necros.
When they add new weapons, I’ll hope they address cleave. But other then that, Stop QQing.
Ye only the condition duration originally was meant for power necro CC and not to incrase condi necro damage.
This is actually very demotivating for me to continue playing power necro, cause i thought dhuumfire nerf will move condi necros back to their own traitline.
There is no reason to pvp on power necro because condi necro uses same traits just their damage is harder to avoid and they are more useful to team.
@Roe : Keeping an eye out for any other FA Necro mains that post to see if the hypothesis holds. So far so good.

Roe covered it. Deathly Perception is the Power GM trait. The 50% additional crit lets you sac some Precision in a PvP DS build and focus on getting your Survivability up a bit with gear without really losing effectiveness. Power trait. How do you not see that. Impossible.
As it turns out, Soul Reaping is also the, WAIT FOR IT…
Death Shroud trait line. Many of the traits effect, WAIT FOR IT…
Death Shroud and its abilities. This includes Vital Persistence, Near to Death, Path to Midnight, Deathly Perception, Foot in the Grave, etc. These all modify what you can do with Death Shroud.
Now, you can use Death Shroud as a supportive healing item. Imagine being in a GvG or group scenario where your allies coordinate positioning with you and you keep a stream of LBs flowing through them from the back lines. Imagine you have Vital Persistance and Unholy Martyr, making it so you naturally degen at a super slow rate and continually pull 5% LF every 3 seconds from your allies that you’re supporting.
Imagine you have an Ele nearby that is increasing your heals by a flat 25% on the targets you’re piercing with LB.
That’s a lot of potential healing, my friend, and you can still bring Wells and Focused Rituals for the well support.
Build diversity. I guess you don’t want it? You don’t even want to try it?
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
Actually Build diversity is exactly what I’m asking for, so many traits on necro push twards condi, I would like some more power based ones. I don’t think its out of line to get one condi build trait and one power trait…
Water: Aquatic Benevolence- your healing to other allies (not self) is increased by 25%
As the trait clearly states it effects YOUR HEALING…..not all nearby friendlys….learn to read.

Rejoice everyone cog is right this will help us greatly in pve powermancers will be able to________,conditionmancers can take that new healing in spite over dhuum and refill there own hp showing there team mates to never give up,a new support mancer will be made which is always in high demand with there non changed Ds they will be able to now take those one shot hits while reminding everyone necros never truly die as long as there is someone there to revive.New bard class in the works?who knows you decide.Don’t like em?guess you could hit buttons in wvw zergs or something.

Here is news for them – not everyone running high crit damage builds does their brain dead dungeons. Some of us roam in wvw. Why do they think wvw and pve is the same thing? Instead of putting a little more effort into the dungeon boss AI, which would include dodging at the right time or even moving 2m out of 100b, wvw’rs wouldn’t have to rework their roaming builds from scratch.
New bunker meta sux

God I can’t believe the amount of QQ across ALL professions here. I have been playing power Necro and loving it, but always was a bit bummed about the lack of options for a bunker build or support build. Now those options seem to be opening up along with improvements to sustain/attrition, and still all you see are these complaint threads. Whatever, you guys wallow in your tears all you want, I’m going to continue enjoying the hell out of my Necromancer!

They also stated they are introducing a Sigil of Benevolence, or something of the sort, which will provide increased healing to allieas much in the same way the Ele GM trait will work.

I think what happens is people hear of changes and get their hopes ungodly high that their class will get massive buffs and change those little things that they would fix. Then the changes come and it isn’t exactly what they wanted and then QQ about it.
There was a post about how guardian changes weren’t that big. Yet guardians are very balanced and have interesting and powerful builds, and are integral to most or all aspects of the game. And even they came and complained. So it is to be expected; imagine a spoiled kid on Christmas who doesn’t get his massive wish list.

I hear ya. And not saying at all that it is just Necromancers, it is every profession. There are alot of changes coming in this next patch that alot of people put hard work and thought into (even taking into consideration player complaints and comments) on a game that is Free-to-Play, and all players can do is complain in mass before they can even get their hands on the new content to see how it all plays out together!

Yeah I kind of had hopes Spite would include a Power trait that would rival Close to Death so I had to make a hard choice on what to take but eh just keep the old stuff right?
Keep it up though some of us have to play Power Necro so people don’t forget it’s a build.
A difficult choice to take is often a difficult choice once. Then it’s a natural choice.
Having two GM traits that serve a similar purpose opens up the possibility that one will be theoried to be strictly worse, then it never gets used. Having a new trait that relates to either the Power or Condi line opens up the door for a potentially completely different style, paving the way for more build diversity overall. The decision then becomes not “which one of these two traits that do a similar thing do I want to do more damage”, but “which style of play do I want”.
The latter, in my opinion, provides much more depth. The former is a shallow pool that you splash in once, then leave.

The problem is spite now has 2 condi related traits. And curses still has nothing for power. Im really tired of the forced direction anet want the necro to go in.

I am wondering, curses is condition damage and precision, so shouldnt the gm traits have something to do ether with (damage) conditions or something like on crit effects?

That is what Withering Precision used to be (25% chance on crit to cause weakness, no ICD). Unfortunately, with the buff to weakness, the trait got nerfed to uselessness. That trait is the best one to look at again to give it a Precision focus once more.
I think that new GM Spite trait should be swapped with GM Curses. Would make more sense since the healing scales off from damage not duration.
Also, coming back to Condi in WvW/PvE. Flat 30% damage nerf to Deathshroud DP build is too much to overcome.

Given the additional tools in Runes/Sigils, and the fact that all other Power builds (like Backstab Thieves, for example) receive a very similar treatment, I’m not so sure.
And even though the amount of healing per tick scales directly from Condition Damage, Condition Duration results in more Condition Damage over time, meaning more healing over time. Potentially less effective with cleanses in the mix, but still a fact.

Arent there still some GM traits that are unreleased? Is all hope really gone?
Its not just power necros, they hate ALL necro builds, i barely play my necro now since it cant compete with the other classes i play in terms of playability and fun
Necro still has survivability. I play both a necro and thief and honestly thief is getting it FAR worse then this…we have a tiny HP pool and low defense. Where necro has HP steal and also the “oh crap button” as i call it. This change is hurting all Power builds but the crit change is killing thief >>
Thieves also have stealth, the most broken mechanic in game.
Life on my thief is extremely easy.
Just my opinion anyway.
80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)
Arent there still some GM traits that are unreleased? Is all hope really gone?
No, this is all the GM traits (5 per class). Of course we don’t know the exact iteration of those traits and how they will work beyond what was discussed.
But before giving up all hope, there are other changes to in the works. Supposely those could matter. One can hope the only changes are not minors 5 and 15 in death and the new GM traits, but history tells us that may very well be it. (except for tooltip updates and the dumbfire nerf).
Rather than look at traits maybe we should be kittening about the fact that our highest damage weapon, the mainhand dagger, does less damage than warrior mainhand axe and doesn’t even cleave.
A single target weapon should do significantly higher damage compared to a cleave weapon.

Singling designs out and plucking them from context in an attempt to compare them on an even footing won’t ever lead anywhere. Also, I don’t subscribe to the merit of a weapon resting solely on its steak sauce DPS.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
I dont find the new gm traits bad. Yes, for pve they all will probably subpar compared to other gm traits we have (unless you plan on a support build) and some may need better numbers, but i think those gm traits will open new builds that can be useful even for a power build (not damage wise but utility wise).
Its a full zerker meta IN PVE ONLY in wvw there is no such thing….
Plus zerker is still the top damage so the change will do nothing to alter that meta.
There’s very much a place for berserker-setups in WvW, and it’s use won’t really be affected by this change.

I think he means it more in a way that zerker is not the must have gear to be competitive.
Well altrought the HYPE for this patch was quite high it was legitimate. Lots of class dont work as they are intended to ,just take a look at ranger, yet they expect this class to actualy be worth playing in any mode post this patch? Get real this wont happen until summers and before that we will all be playing something else.
