Think about it. How awesome would it be if each necromancer weapon had unique death shroud skills to accompany them? The death shroud skills wouldn’t just be the same old thing no matter what, but rather an extension of the style of the weapon you’re using. For instance, dagger main hand could change the primary attack of death shroud to be a powerful melee range cleave attack, and so on.

I think something like this would add a good deal of depth to weapon choice, as well as make death shroud more interesting than just F1 > 3 for fear exit, or F1 to absorb burst > exit. However, I think this would make people feel obligated to use it to take advantage of the skills which might be a bad thing, I don’t know.

Sorry if this has come up on the forums before, it just popped into my head.

Why not use it more if you want to use it more? i do none of those things you mention and find DS very useful.

I think in it’s present form – it covers alot of our weak areas. I run dagger main hand – and I love the fact that DS has a nice range attack for the fact that sometimes i just can’t get into melee range and other times I find the need to kite someone.

Also, it just dawned on me. Alot of post and comments have been made about how the Necromancer needs a main hand power weapon. Looking at our weapon skills – I kind of agree, but thinking about it more I would say Death Shroud is the weapon of choice. And with this new perspective – it further drives home the fact that Necromancers require a build up in just about everything they do(DS 1 spam is best when you have a full bar).

Frequent devil’s advocate.

I’ve actually found D2 2 is a good gap closer when I’m rockin’ my dagger/focus. A quick and dirty way to get into combat. The bonus being you don’t have to wait for the projectile to hit to drop out of DS.

except for when it doesn’t hit which is quite often

I would like some more options for DS as well because, as it is, it contradicts my build. To my build DS is just a short period of invul for me to recharge my heal skills. Also like OP, i… F1 > 3 for fear exit, or F1 to absorb burst > exit…

It has the same problem as Lich Form: no Conditions!

Class Elite and core mechanic for the Condition class doesn’t have any attacks that reliably inflict Conditions.

wut, Anet, wut…

I can do thirty Five-Dolyak Arm Curls.

Do you even lift, bro?

At least lich form does +700 damage per normal hit and a bunch of good utility. You look pretty bada** as well, unlike Rampage/Elixir X. Umm, you can use plague if you want conditions.

Anyways, the problem is with DS. All class mechanics should be still viable regardless of your build. Guardians/Rangers/Mesmers can forcefully use their CM even if the build doesnt suport it. Necros cant because it is possible that going into DS will give you a disadvantage.

Plague Form is probably one of the worst Elites in the game.

You lose sooo much damage, even if you’re Condition-specced.
