This is one of the few examples of a profession skill that is worse than a racial skill.

Radiation Field lasts 3 seconds longer, has the same radius, same conditions, but it also deals direct damage. It actually deals 0.5 power coefficient every 2.5s for a total of 3.0 over 15s. Corrosive Poison Cloud does not deal any direct damage.

Corrosive Poison Cloud may also be the most build restrictive corruption skill because the self inflicted condition is weakness, so it will ruin your damage output unless you are using condi transfers. Other corruptions are more build flexible but they also have stronger effects.

The most build restrictive corruption skill is a traited epidemic: weakness and an extremly short cd. Now CPC needs a serious buff so I suggest projectile destruction (since necro is the only class without projectile hate) on the skill and cripple as self hurt, the traited negative may be confusion or poison. A tick speed change with an appriate effect reduction would be nice.

Well if you take Master of Corruptions you’re using a corruption build and you’re taking transfers.

You can take those skills untraited and they become far less build restrictive untraited. That makes them very build flexible because you don’t need a trait or anything to make their primary effects worth it.

i didnt want to answer but you do realize cpc has half the cooldown(not traited) compared to the racial and pulses, making condi clears worthless?

CPC is a great skill, its better than a field giving allies protection. I actually use it in the dredge fractal or sometimes in pvp.
I swear if people in this forum stopped crying so much the profession would be viewed much better. Also start playing on our strengths and stop trying to be guardian or warrior

Aren’t necromancers supposed to have some condi transfers anyway…

Another problem with CPC now is that self-inflicted non-damaging conditions don’t gain condi-dur bonuses anymore…

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

I dunno today I did a CPC + RS 4 and got 40 stacks of poison onto my target… 7k poison ticks are kind of fun…

You need that skill to put additional weakness that stacks in duration that you can get from consumables?? Honestly if they are not going to add projectile destruction they could make it a condition version of WoS, pulses 3 stack of poison 6 sec, 3 sec of weakness, 1 sec interval, same CD and 6 sec duration.

Why not “Enemies receive +10% more damage, when standing the Corrosive Poison Cloud”? Could imagine that it could be a denial of area for PvP/WvW and a nice group buff (really needed) for PvE.

There are no consumables in pvp, and i want my sharpening stone in pve. Why reduce the duration on an area denial skill which is mostly defensive? I dont think the idea for the projectiles will ever get implemented for 2 reasons. First it seems the devs want us to have no blocks or projectile defense cause deathshroud absorbs all :P and secondly, the area it covers is pretty big, the duration is too long for a projectile field, and it kinda negates its usefulness in gimping the enemy damage, being projectile or not.

I think the problem of corruptions is that the self-applied condition is either too strong or too weak.
It is too weak for wasting a transfer on it, but it is very annoying if you don’t transfer it…

Also, their base effect are usually good (still kinda low) but very niche.

Example: corrupt boon is a great utility in principle, but let’s be honest, we have hundreds of boon hate skills which do something else on top (traited signet, traited DS2, etc…). Then you get 6s poison on you. Poison is a condi we apply easily, so the healing denial is already easily covered. But 1 stack poison does pitiful damage. So transferring it does not bring much while removing one potential important defensive cooldown. But keeping it denies your own healing.

Get the trait and you get 2 bleeding… Still not that impressive.

What I would prefer is if the trait boosted strongly the self-applied conditions: for example corrupt boon self-inflicts 5 more stacks of 5s poison. Then I can see myself transferring it back and the corruption theme of “high risk high reward” would make sense (I still used a defensive CD + if I get interrupted before transferring, I may kill myself).

Players don’t stand still, necro doesn’t do well vs ranged foes and weakness is common on necro.

CPC is okay, but the self weakness sucks hard, and it needs a bit more strength to be used more.

Are these arguments against CPC? What should it do, hunt down ranged targets?

To make it stronger….lower weakness duration, increase poison maybe? Trying to be realistic, 12s aoe projectile defense on a possible 24s cooldown is too much i think :P

Yes pretty much similar thinking to thief’s Caltrops but at least that doesn’t have common already found defense and debuffs. If they have to link the projectile destruction to MoC instead of dumb self debuff. Most skills are not projectile and you would have to stay in it.

My thoughts are about skills that would actually be used competitively. If it’s not going to give wanted defenses give it a condition well flavor it’s not like any necro is proud of any corruption CC and Plague weren’t at first even Corrupt Boon fell off.
