Top tier lmao, best post ever. Condi Necor can still kill most 1v1 but even for them a PU Mesmer is most often to hard now. Cant hit what u cant see and PU can do there rotaion then stealth wait for CD’s… repeat. I agree we around 6-7th place atm in most aspects

I only played a bit of PvP, but…well even I can see we’re nowhere near top tier. No mobility, no team support, can take an honestly good condo build because we have to dedicate at least 2 of our utilities to survive focus fire.
Deathshroud has no way to deal with CC chains, so easily focused down. No stability, so easy to interrupt, the changes to movement skills made it so we have no way to actually lockdown our opponent, and our CC is tied to a condition, that can be cleansed with any normal condition cleanse, and lasts shorter than a traditional hammer smack.
We have the potential to be top tier with the right buffs, but anet has shown that whenever they give US a buff, directly or indirectly, they have to do something to make it meaningless. Probably don’t even mean to, just the way things work ou. Ah well PvP in this game is a joke anyways.

dude, i play for fun, like 90% of players.. i just know one thing: people always complaint.. you go on mesmer community, u’ll read complaints, same for thief, mesmer and ele
the point is if you can fulfill your task. when i play with my team mates, my task is to roam and take points or hold them.. and i can do it very well.. take time fighting 2v1 means your mates are 4v3.
wanna talk?? ok.. necro atm has at least 2 fears, excellent condi clear, good controll and good sustained damage. Plus, he s a tough profession due to high pf and armor ( with cele u rech 2500)

It’s not the ability to 1v1 that bothers me, it’s the ability that it is good for anything but 1v1 that bothers me. That and some completely unused stuff.
@MidoriMarch The reason behind so many necro complaints is because of the mountain of nerfs and bad design choices that plague necromancers. You can search the subforum and find thread after thread on every single nerf from the recent chilling darkness to god awful minion ai. The most common thing about all of them is that some of the nerfs were based off of perfect theoretical situations that would never come up. So when you have to deal with issues like these constantly for a product you paid for yeah you are going to get complaints.

Warrior who can 1 shot kill an entire team using certain builds right now while being 100% invuln?
Engi who can stack 10K+ burning ticks + every other condition repeatedly, while also doing great direct damage, have amazing heals, and stealth?
Thief who can burst 30K+, give the team stealth, heal to full in stealth, and move around the map 5x faster than necro?
Guard… well I don’t play a guard so I don’t actually know what they can do… maybe someone else can fill in here.
In a team fight a necro brings nothing but damage. Damage that is slower, harder to apply and less consistent then other classes. We have no way to avoid focus fire, so any team with a necro is immediately down 1 player since there is nothing a necro can do to escape and come back with.
I’ll admit that necro can 1v1 thieves and engineers pretty well, but that does not make them below necros.
Nec is bottom tier in PvP still right above ranger atm. That’s just because of how it’s designed though to be too unique and not given things everything else has.
I agree we are still in the WvW meta.
I agree the seeing stealth idea is kind of silly and not needed.
The same complaints you are seeing now are the same complaints that have been going on for years so it’s not like you should be surprised if you come to the forums and see them.

“In my opinion.” Our first balance patch was tiny tweaks and ajustments. I don’t think mesmer will get nerfed anytime soon because of the way the class functions, It needs to be tweaked carefully to not be made useless.

I’m not sure why that makes you laugh, I’d say hes spot on. Both ranger and necro still lack the survival skills to play glass like other classes and can’t play tankier specs due to limit support. Condi is just out of the question with shoutbow around.

“You guys” we don’t all sign a necro needs buff petition on character creation. People post their individual ideas. Nobody wants them ALL, Point me to a thread where someone is asking for ALL of them.
The fact is stealth should have more counterplay full stop, Not just from necro.
We have a bunch of long casttimes and are getting more with reaper so yes a tiny bit of stability outside of deathshroud would be great.
I tiny bit of mobility would be great too, seeing as both our viable power weapons will be melee when reaper hits and chill no longer effects movement.
You say “Mobility AND stability” like you shouldn’t have both. Yet every other class in the game has access to more of BOTH (Except thief stability and maybe gaurdian mobility which still both have more of the other kind.)

but it s another thing.
i think that anet is balancing ( or try to do it ) in the worst manner.. right now the guardians can do to many things.. like mesmers.. donno, but they should lead classes in one direction.. not thousan of them.. a dps can t have sustained dmg, 5 sec of block, 5 sec of invulnerability, 4 sec of stability ecc..

Well of the 4 teams they showed on the NA stream, there was a necromancer used in two of the teams, compared to one engi and no rangers.
The necromancers were pheownix of slippery dingo wranglers and noscoc of course, on the abjured. They both ran the cele signet build.
Also the big damage, who plays bunker guard on radiactive is a necro main (overpowered necro is his necro’s name). Before the patch he mainly played zerker necro and medi guard but he hasn’t played necro as much.
Anyway, the representation of the necromancer isn’t as dire as it seems. I mean all the engis besides chaithh have backed away since the faceroll cele build was gutted for them. While necromancer is a slightly niche pick, it can still definitely work, because inGW2’s pvp, rotation,s communication, and teamwork mean far more than what class or build you play as long as you play what you like, what you’re good at, and try to balance the team accordingly as much as possible.

Apex predator for other zerkers, stealth and decap bot. Not op in fighting atm, could get replaced even by good mesmer. Mes/ele are actual top1-2, i just wrote thief first cz 98/100 serious pvp teams in all 3 years had thief. Why? Cz teef
2) mesmer.
Currently very OP.
3) ele.
Currently OP for 2v1 holding, with very high escape chance. Stacking 2x eles is legit comp
Burning dmg also stronk but it mostly helps necros and can be smally tweaked
4) guard
Classic bunker guard – nothing wrong with it tho. Quickness shout quite strong. Its stronger if other zerkers are strong, weaker if cele meta is king. Currently theres thief/mesmer/rampage zerkers that are worth supporting.
5) Rampage.
Previously class called warrior.
6) engie
Not op as many thought it would be. If rampage gets balanced, it should overtake its 5th spot or stay in the same tier boat with it. Not yet settled, can be higher but not lower
7) necro
Cele necro – good 1v1 , but takes 1min to win fight while it can die in 5-10s without elite. Zero team support, good dmg and boon/condi pressure, gets focused in teamfight.
Bunker necro (honorable mention cz it got reworked from trash to actually fun and almost good) – still too little team support beside being a sponge.
8) ranger
Power ranger = a mesmer who traded everything for 300 more range
Condi ranger = more dmg, more survival, but again 0 support and unique stuff compared to cele ele/engie
Ill write team roles , this should help you see that even with the exceptions of some players taking a build and making a good team comp, ask yourself if a equaly skiled player of another class would do that role (or more) better, easier, on lower cd or with less risk?
Team roles:
1) support: heal, cleanse, rezz/stomp with stability, blind or transform, CC for peels, interupts, setting up burst or keeping cc chain
2) mobility. Simply get somewhere fast. NOW
3) damage and pressure
-burst dmg (direct or condi)
-constant sustainec dmg (direct or condi)
-aoe cleave
-pressure to make enemy spend their cooldowns (example corupt boon or spite signet on power necro – it doesnt do much dmg and the cripple alone isnt a perfect setup, but it 100% forces a big cleanse or retreat from enemy)
4) specific counter to enemy

Pretty much what Flumek said. Necro builds are decent at either burst damage(wells), sustain damage(conditions/cele), debuffs, or tanking (bunkers or cele). That doesn’t compete with other classes which can bring support, damage, mobility, and/or unique utility all in one build. Honestly, unless the fix our mobility we would have to be super op at fighting, support, and/or tanking to be worth taking. Right now we are average at those things at best, and don’t bring any mobility.
Why bring a cele necro who brings pressure, sustain damage, and decent sustain when you can bring an ele who brings pressures, sustain damage, burst damage, superb sustain, cc resistance, support, and great mobility? Why bring a power necro that bring burst damage, and pressure when you can bring a warrior that brings great mobility, pressure, burst damage, and more cc than anyone can deal with?

Necros are near the top at fighting. Problem with PvP is that most of it is not team death match. Mobility plays a large role in the higher team ranked meta and necro is not that dominant at fights to really make that up.

Not true. Top meta strats are not always the best for the tier you are at. For examples, in League of Legends, jungling will make you lose the game until you start playing with top laners who won’t feed a duo group.

Well the way I see it, having good mobility will never happen for the necromancer. It would be way too strong with how tanky necros are and how great they are in 1v1s.
I do think that many of the things reaper will bring will make the loss in mobility seem like a non-issue by increasing the personal power level of necromancers in teamfights. In particular, reaper shroud is a huge improvement over the current deathshroud for pretty much every build. Most of its skills are fast, and it even has a short range gap close. Lets not forget stability, infusing terror gives pulsing (read: functionally irremovable) stability on what will probably still be a 20 second cooldown.
One of the other big problems I’ve noticed when playing cele necro is that there isn’t really much downed cleave. In an enemy wants to get the rez, they will get it unless they’re very low on health or don’t have the stunbreak/cleanse to take a fear or WH daze. Reaper Shroud looks like it will give fantastic downcleave. The GS will also have great downcleave, but it may not be needed if RS fulfills that job well enough. Its a slow and powerful weapon, and I see it as being a better teamfight weapon than a 1v1 weapon compared to dagger/warhorn.
Anyway my point is that reaper will give necromancers most of what they need to be good to be mobile, and I honestly don’t think the mobility will be that needed when everything else looks to be quite strong.

It’s true that necro are in good place right now thats why so many people in spvp/wvw runs it so stop crying just because necroes doesnt have everything. stability/mobility isnt mean to be necro’s

I see the problem now, you’ve never played a ranked match before. Yes I will admit it is very easy to WTF stomp noobs of every class with necro in hotjoin.

Necros are near the top at fighting. Problem with PvP is that most of it is not team death match. Mobility plays a large role in the higher team ranked meta and necro is not that dominant at fights to really make that up.
Necromancer is worse on courtyard than it is on Conquest.
No ranged defense, no escapes, no way to prevent disengage, feeble ranged damage….
courtyard is necros best friend. and isnt bottom tier, i think alot of you dont knowhow to play necro.
ps i win against theifs all the time, because i know gow to counter them. that doesnt make them bad

In Teamfights Necro should always be first target to focus down, because he has no escapes, no stability and is therefor easily shut down. You can still play successfully if you and your team knows this and you play accordingly. Downstate is also the most useless of all classes.

Yeah you should focus D/P thieves, mesmers, and other dps classes before necro unless it’s a well-lich necro.
I’ve gotten lots of flack for focusing thieves first, but they die if sneezed on, and forcing them out of a fight is almost as useful as killing them outright.

Bottom line was necro fell behind comparatively to other classes simply because power creep didn’t hit us as hard. We do 20-30% less damage than before with a marauder amulet compared to old zerk for a net gain of 8% extra crit and 3k hp. If you decide to go zerk ammy then good luck surviving Mesmer burst or thief backstab with that base 19k hp. You’re basically asking to get insta-bursted even if you have full DS.

Thats why you shouldn’t go marauder amulet. Celestial builds are great now because of the might stacking and they are pretty durable, so you can actually survive some focus fire as long as you aren’t getting completely chain CCed. Reaper will probably work better with marauder for obvious reasons.

The problem is necros are not true tanks. We’re at best a selfish healer class if you want to compare the old trinity system. We can be ok damage dealers if we can somehow lock down an opponent, but we certainly are not true tanks. Without invun, blocks vigor and good stability we can ‘t tank. We can last longer than most in a straight up slugfest (no real gameplay just AA til one dies) because of high health and, DS and heals but we can’t survive or escape focus fire. A true tank should be able to survive a focused spike.

Ohhh but I do!! I one of the few power FULL GLASS necros that roam in wvw constantly,and I tell you this,not a single d/p thief or d/d thief for that matter has ever beat me in wvw and I roamed for about 4 months,and now I can beat S/d ones too which pre patch it was very hard and I did 20+ duels against top ranked thieves from my server.The one thing I cant do is beat a thief all the time with no DS at all on start.
Now,Necro is not only my top play class-it is the thief aswell,so in thief prespective you dont know the half of what you talking about,thieves got super nerfed,you go ahead and check thief forums we are desperate times my friend…
