I guessed revenant.
But necromancer isn’t an awful choice. The specialization is melee and may not have better CC than chill at the end of an auto attack chain. Asking such a build which has no ranged defense and bad healing to also e a ping pong ball is a bit much.
Besides, defiance = nerfed.
I think it’d be neat. You’d get a defiance bar, probably fueled by your life force. It sacrifices the “extra health” defense in favour of crowd control defense, which is powerful, but still an interesting trade-off.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

I would love to have a defiance “burner” on top of our fears though. That would add some group dungeon value.

A defiance bar is something I could see happening for Necro, it is very similar to our old shade mechanic, only with a built-in CC health bar instead of being forced to try to DPS them out of DS.
Shouts are possible, I think we’re one of the best fits for them after the three that already have them.
I would prefer more sources of burning to add synergy with Dhuumfire and runes before adding another mechanic Necromancer did not have before but, if it affects Defiant, the PvE usefulness would improve.
I just do not have a good feel for how the Defiant changes will work iut.
We need it.. and that’s exactly why I think anet won’t give it to us. Not to mention whatever class gets it will be added onto the list that contains diamond skin for Condi necros unable to use terror in these people.

I don’t think so, that really limits the ways they can expand on existing class mechanics. The GS spec would need shout traits which means less general traits, or we would have a set of skills that can’t be improved with traits.
I personally think we will get the defiance bar with one of our GM traits in the GS spec.
Probably not. They refused to give us decent stability for years, why in the world would you ever think we will get any sort of attrition mechanic? What do you think our profession is? Attrition based?
It makes perfect sense to me, they see DS as worthy defensive layer to our health that other players have to take down…make a few word plays it can fit for CC as well because we still remain easy to focus fire. Damage will still be received so now add a CC version of DS,it’s still not proper attrition if it seen kitten by them.

There will be 8 classes that have this mechanic, necromancer will one be one of them. Sure it fits our theme but it would be too overpowered for us. It does not fit our ingame kit to have it.

I like that idea but the old “Necro is too tough already” is still pervasive. I think there is no chance for getting additional defense mechanisms. Arenanet will transfer the current balance and class mechanics to the new system as closely as they can before even considering a balance adjustment.
