Hello again everyone!

First, let me apologize for my constant questions as it seams that is what I spend most of my time doing here. One thing about GW2 is that there is so much to learn…

Anyways, I have been messing around for awhile now on trying to find a fun class to play for an alt and thus far, nothing has fit the bill. I tried a Mesmer, Thief, and even a D/D Ele and while each had some great aspects, I got bored much faster than I expected. As someone who spent 5+ years in WoW as a Warlock, I figured that Necro might be a good option.

Anyways, here are my questions for you smart folks:

1. I would like to play a heavy condition build that also provides a great deal of survivability. Is there a build that fits this role well?

2. How well does your class do in team support, AOE damage, and solo roaming?

3. I have always heard that Necro’s have terrible mobility. After playing a Mesmer for awhile, I’m not sure any class can be slower than they are. How is your mobility in WvW?

4. Lastly, do ya’ll know of a video that provides an in-depth overview of your class and really explains the mechanics? I’m seriously considering deleting my level 80 D/D Ele but want to make sure I’ll enjoy the Necro before I make such a drastic move.

OK, so for my necro, I run two builds most of the time. During my zergs I play a powermancer, and while I’m roaming I enjoy my condition build.

1) here is my build, it has around 2k condi dmg, but a good amount of toughness and survivability as well. The catch to getting builds off the internet is that it doesn’t give you a chance to really test out what you are good at, so if you have any questions, please feel free to message me ingame (To Hell And Back).

For the 3rd utility slot you can also use flesh wurm or plague signet. You want it to be a stun breaker. I like spec walk for mobility. Another thing is to get another scepter or dagger and put a sigil of corruption on it for condi dmg stacks and just swap it back and forth to get stacks off some animals in the borderlands.

2) This is a roaming build, you can run it in zergs, but because cleansing conditions is so easy it isn’t very worth it.

3) In WvW mobility I very important, that is why I use spectral walk and flesh wurm, but if you know where to run to LoS then you can run plague signet which can mess with any other condition builds you face.

4) as much as I love watching videos, take this build for a spin and add your own modifications that fit your play style.

Aoe damage is the necros team support for the most part. They debuff enemies rather than buff allies.

Bad… but that’s not always a bad thing.

Nemesis’ videos are mostly about PvE mechanics.
WvW is different for every necro depending on their build, so I’m not sure there is a guide that explains basic stuff for all necros.
There are some necros who live stream sometimes, maybe that helps.

Thanks for the detailed response! I’ve been looking for something “fun” to play other than my Warrior and just can’t seem to find what I’m looking for. I thought the D/D Ele would be the key for me but that hasn’t been the case.

I’m on the TC server and so if you’re around in the evenings (EST), would you like to duel a bit in WvW? I’d love to see how you play in action.

above is what I use daily for roaming and general WvW stuff

for some serious time running/zerg busting I change things up a bit but over all same stats and 0/30/20/20/0 build just different traits and utilities.
