I just hit 80 on my first character, my necro. I loved gw1 necro and that’s why I chose the class.

I have no idea what I’m doing, build wise. I want to get involved in PvP, and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. I’ve been reading the forums alot, and have a few questions. My main interest is in team fighting in WvW, where I hear necros do well.

If I want to be a condition team fighter, what is a good build and solid gear to get? I’m a new level 80 and don’t really know what I should buy, ha. I want to run staff and s/d.

Full rabid gear is generally the norm for gear, and you can usually fill in with carrion if you can’t afford other pieces. Usually undead runes are a good choice for runes.

Common builds are 30/20/0/0/20 grabbing dhuumfire, terror and master of terror, 0/30/20/0/20 grabbing the staff traits and terror and master of terror.

You are correct in choosing staff + s/d. Definitely shoot for full rabid with some carrion filled in if you can’t get rabid pieces. Carrion weapons might be easier to get if you don’t have the Badges for WvW gear since they can be crafted. Undead runes are a cheap and very viable option for runes.

You can get Rabid head/shoulders/legs/hands/trinkets from Orr temples with Karma. That way you can save your Badges for chest/feet/weapons.
