I haven’t done much with wells but I did want to point out that condition damage can be fun in zergs with epidemic. You hit someone getting focus fired with a ton of conditions on them and can do a ton of damage. Really good if you can find a vet mob to hit with players around it as well.
Wells will scale off of power/crit though, rather than conditions.
Steb I’m kind of in the exact same boat you are. I loved my condition build scepter dagger especially with epidemic but more and more i’m finding myself mostly using my staff instead of conditions. My current build is 30/20/20/0/0. So i’m thinking about switching to staff for towers / keeps / zergs and dagger dagger for the 1v1… however i’m really interested to see what people say about this. I’m interested in every aspect. Runes / Builds / Traits / Specific Gear / Sigils / every single aspect. I’ve toyed around with it but just am struggling with find the sweet spot for WvW yet. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated

Personally I use the power/crit combination on wells for anit-portal bomb. Well of Corruption/Well of Suffering ontop of the enemy portal is devastating.
I would like to try a condition build though, my only issue with that is I would have to give up my war horn (speed boost). And the few times I have used condition builds they seems to lack in damage to me, maybe that was because I was low level… or maybe I just do not have the right build.
using wells is all about timing and watching what your opponent is using offensively and defensively but it’s a tough build to get that timing down but once you do I think its one of the better builds to use in SPVP.
It also allows you to hold your own against thief, mes & save your self guardians.

I’m looking for a WvW Staff/Well build since 90% of the time spent in WvW is AoE farming some silly zerg. However, I still want to ability to attempt 1v1 if I need it.

I wouldn’t run dagger/dagger against the blobs/zergs in WvW, I’d wager the best bet would be with a more generic staff/well spam build akin to this.

You could run it with the Knight’s Exalted , Furnace Reward or Corrupted Orrian sets as they all have Toughness Primary, with Power and Precision secondary.
You’ll be long dead before any conditions have even a remote effect against the blob.
If your looking for tanky power, go 30/15/25/0/0 using the Knight’s (Power, Precision, Toughness) Armour set and Ruby (Power, Precision, Critical Damage) Jewelery.

Consume Conditions, Well of Suffering & Well of Corruption would be musts. Warhorn for speed and disrupt i feel is always a must non-SPvP. 5% Critical Chance Sigil is a must, from my testing it was always superior over 5% damage and critical hits cant be weakened.
Both will still be able to 1 v 1 but the Knight’s set will suffer in burst damage alot.
This is what i use for WvW Full Berserkers armour and Ruby Jewelery and i rarely lose 1 v 1’s.

I’m wondering if something with a Power/Vit/Condition damage would work… A little more on the “condition side” though. I’ve played around with one of my spread sheets and with this (http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNBLhZakRrSPTzdjhTBIp45rnK0Nkid1NSBxDD) I was able to use armor from guildheads database to reach:
- Power: 1873
- Precision: 1216
- Toughness: 1116
- Vitality: 1608
- Condition Damage: 1031
- Health Pool: 25292

Ive found when I used wells in WvW, I had more synergy in a Zerg I was running with or filled more roles to support. Since going back to Full Condition and Bleeds…I find in 1v1 I do fine…but now lack any real use in a zerg unless I can get a good Epi off or get straglers who stray to far from the main group.
So I would admit I find Wells to be “Better” in terms of usefulness to a group, but I suppose it comes down more to playstyle and how you approach using your build.
