Anyone have any good zergbreaker/support builds out there? This is the one I’m working on but gear stats are unpicked thus far.

General thought process on the build is that you aren’t going to kill things yourself, you just make it much easier for your side to do so. Focused Rituals is a must, allowing Well of Corruption and Well of Darkness to be placed at range. I like Chilling Darkness for the intense effects on both Well of Darkness and Plague. CPC was taken for both location control and its generally good debuffing ability when dropped into the middle of an enemy zerg, but can (and should be) be swapped to Spectral Wall when chokepoints are involved. Most of the time will be spent in staff unless you feel extra boonstripping is needed. Between Putrid Mark and Spiteful Removal, you shouldn’t be threatened with conditions, leaving you Well of Blood for additional support. This is oddly a case where Antitoxin Spray may be useful as it allows group healing (and cleansing) without risking overwriting a water field.

I run a build with the exact same purpose so maybe I can help.

1) get rid of all condi duration. too many cleanses going off in zergs. Focus on condi dmg.
2) If you happen to be Asuran, use Radiation Field instead of Corrosive Cloud. Otherwise I would agree with your choice and you’re right about swapping in Spectral Wall when necessary.
3) I personally wouldn’t use Well of Blood over Consume Conditions. If you know how to use the combo field it makes to wipe conditions….then maybe but you’re still going to be guessing when to place it on the zerg and when to place it on yourself.
4) Because you’re focused on conditions already it would make more sense to use scepter / dagger instead of axe / focus. More blinds, weakness and condi synergy.
5) You remove conditions just fine between staff, dagger and consume conditions so spiteful removal isn’t necessary.
6) All the siphoning health stuff isn’t good. Your traits are much more efficient elsewhere.

I typically don’t do this but because your idea is so similar I’ll link mine:

modified it a bit..
instead of spiteful removal i picked up curses 25 and death magic 25, for more dmg and more toughness..imo while conditions like blind chill have fast effects which are good against zerg, bleeds get cleared fast, so imo power is the way to go. So i picked cavaliers as gear(power-Toughness-crit dmg) since crit chance is already ok with maintenance oil and 25 in curses. You can also go valkyrie for more hp and more ds, but i like more toughness in wvw and necro has enough hp already. Imo change the lich rune for 3rd lyssa/mad king for more power/prec.Ah and trinkets are berserker-valkyrie for more defense, can be also full zerk for more precision.

“Siphoning health” is only Vampiric in my build, a necessary evil if you are going for Ritual Mastery. I have no other siphoning ability in the build.

The idea behind the condition duration was actually boosting the chill durations to maximize the pain (since even with +90% duration, they’re likely to run their full course). It can be dropped, but I really like having chill durations.

to kitten up the zerg you want mostly chill and weakness, and we have good access to both. Blind is good and poison can panick enemies. Not to mention condi duration helps with fear:D So the idea behind condi duration is good…i think thats actually the best necro role in zerg v zerg :P

I know it’s tough to let go of condi duration. It took me nearly three months. But take into consideration the variance in statistics each of our builds brings.

here is mine for fun runs with random zergs. Lots of heal and solid power. Chill on blindness. Why not condition build? cos condition in zerg is almost useless due to many counters to conditions.

If I had the money for full sentinel’s and a commander tag/siege I’d run one of these builds:

This gives you protection, control, a ton of health, but no real group support. Your well protected against condition cleanses, and superb death shroud building. You’ll be able to sit in death shroud for ever.
Spectral Tank

This one uses the same gear but uses wells to give a better support approach. Again, protection, and stability are a must. This time we don’t go into curses because it isn’t necessary.
Well Tank

Necros don’t have reflects, invulns, vigor, blocks,
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.

It’s not useless. In fact commanders will expect you to chill and boon strip at every encounter. Condition duration isn’t very useful but you’re generalizing.

Perhaps yours is better for actually killing people, but that isn’t the point for me. The point is to make the other zerg simply suck. Cleanses are countered by frequent reapplication and the conditions I’m inflicting are, for the most part, short enough duration that they will run their full course anyway, even with frequent cleansing.

The build focuses around mass, application of weakness, blindness, chill, and poison with some fear for preventing resses. Not killing people. I’m running with 15+ other people for that purpose.

I edited the build in the OP, switching out the Runes of the Lich for Runes of Ice. This gives 2 second chills on every blind I inflict as well as making Spinal Shivers a nasty 10 second chill (which will probably get cleansed, but will hurt in the meantime). The points in Spite were moved to Curses and Death Magic.

Yeah….that’s exactly what my build does but it also kills people. I’m not trying to argue but I already gave my suggestions. Best of luck with your build and wvw.
