I’m optimistic about the AoE “nerf” and upcoming changes. I suspect they’ll tackle the AoE issue with one of two approaches:

  • Apply a new, “broad” approach to reducing the damage done by AoE skills to rezzers and downed. As a terrible example, it could be something like taking less damage while being rezzed or rezzing. The actual solution will likely be something far more balanced and creative than what my little brain can come up with.
  • Targeting specific “troublesome” AoE skills and adjusting those. Such skills may include Wells and Marks.

Thus rezzing while in a well is less punishing but the skill acts as a “better” long-term area denial/punishment skill. Unfortunately, the above example would kill Well-Bombers but would prove useful in point-denial and *coughATTRITIONcough * builds.

- I would like Dark Path to actually hit home more than it currently does not. Same for Necrotic Grasp.
- Rework Death Magic trait line. The first two minors are worthless if you’re not going MM.
- A legendary staff that fits the Necro

Buff DD builds (axe and dagger), fix traits, fix bugs, fix JH, Gap closers that work, slightly improved boon access.

For that im willing to offer up an increase cd on Epidemic. Its not like we have anything else, that people really consider unique and worthwhile, when thinking about Necro.

From what well of wishfullness do you get this conclusion from? If you read patch notes, you’ll notice one overwhelming theme: The vast majority are minor changes to one single thing, and often it’s a number change. One thing they are NOT noted for is giving with one hand while taking with the other. The fear example was an unusual exception to that rule, and even in that case the give was specific to only one type of necro while the take hit us all.

Even the extremely hypothetical duration/damage change would be extremely bad. There are only two scenarios under which the change would be not a major nerf: Point-holding and a PvE solo hero because the mobs are too dumb to leave them. Bosses and players MOVE. The former is an incredibly specialized scenario specific to some PvP roles, the latter is a transfer of power to carebear mode (solo pve) from everyplace else (aka places you might actually NEED that power).

I don’t have none since necros mostly go untouch without the core problems being fix, the last patch fixed some stuff but not the major problems we have, i will expect the same. Not getting my hopes up.

None of the devs play necro. No fixes will happen. Minion AI game breaking since day one. Literally crashing my game at random times.

Nerfs? Many of us had been crying for bug fixes and buffs for months. But so far very few are happening. If necro is nerfed and there is no major bug fixes and buffs, I would expect many new thieves being created. Thief Wars FTW!

What I want and many with me is a revamp of the Minor Traits that imho is by far the worst of all classes in the game. Spite Traits and Death Magic also need a look at.

I wish they get rid of reanimator trait so i can FINALY make a proper toughness build without minions.

This might be a make-or-break for many. If they nerf our AoE, which is IMO one of the best points of the Necro (well… ok sometimes I feel like a bipedal arrow cart) then this class will be in some very severe trouble without something to offset it.

1) A viable power/axe build that is not a joke.

2) Bug fixes

3) Total rework of minions art design to fit better a necro, not a clown with rats

4) Total rework of minion AI (they need badly) and minions utilities

5) DS interface fix, we can not see condition on us….

Nerf wells and marks? That would be a perfect example of how a game shouldn’t and can’t successfully be balanced around only one mode (sPVP). I bored of team pvp quickly and mostly do WvW, and I already feel wells have little purpose there, esp for any non wells build. Most fights are large ranging affairs and people have plenty of room to get out of the way of larger marks and wells.

But in sPVP everything is centered around holding these tiny capture points hardly larger than some of the AOE in the game, so everyone makes builds to excel within the circle, but nerfing there might makes them doubly crappy in the other game modes, which is unacceptable for a profession that only has a few avenues that excels in as it is, and one is in large size team vs team fights and sieges.

Instead of balancing with such narrowmindedness, they should try to be a little creative, and think outside the box. One way would be increase tPVP capture points to the size of WvW camp capture points. This would make wells and larger marks less powerful and more easily avoidable without actually reducing our DPS farther in a hard sense, and nerfing the class everywhere else in the game.

Exactly. Why are they balancing the game around a game mode (spvp) that nearly no one plays anyways? If anything they should balance the game around wvw, where massive amount of people actually plays.

And they should consider adjusting and improving spvp, fixing its problems, before nerfing and buffing classes based on it.

Our defenses are too much of the same thing, more life (death shroud) and then even more life (plague) with some toughness. This needs to be addressed.

Look at the Ele, which is supposed to be a squishy class, they get not one, but two, invulnerability abilities they can take, and that is not even counting their downed state one. You get run over by a zerg, or pulled into one, and see what is better, an extra life bar or 3-4 seconds of being invincible. It’s the latter every time. Death shroud you just get CC’d into the ground and pounded on for about 3 seconds and its over.

Then Ele’s also get amazing mobility, regen, and condition clearing, making them a far better real attrition class than we are, all while still getting decent damage. Their lower life amounts to not much at all, since you can’t hit them half the time and they can get out of so many bad situations. Necro’s just have to sit there and eat it like a sponge.

In beta, we had a teleport to any location in range in Death Shroud, this at least made the form somewhat versatile, then they switched it to a teleport only to an enemy, something most Necro’s who are condition, have no desire to do. Our whole M.O. is to kite and avoid damage so that our attrition damage can work.

All I want is for them to fix minion AI and either beef them up considerably in the health/armor department or give all minions/pets/clones etc some kind of blanket AOE dmg reduction. Its so beyond stupid that in a game designed around dodging and not standing in red circles they kitten over so many builds by making that impossible for pets.

While we’re all dreaming here, making healing power affect all our life steals would be great. Almost every other class gets some kind of passive regen signet or ability that totally outstrips all our vaunted ‘vampiric’ traits.

I will be honest in that ive stopped looking forward to patches. Every month we get at least one of our really good skills destroyed and instead get very little return for it.

So im praying that Jan/Feb they concentrate on breaking some other class and leave our one alone. If fixing one skill means they got to nerf or destroy 2-3 others, I will keep my broken skills for now. Unfortunately I feel once the AOE starts getting hit hard, we are going to become nothing more than punch bags with our large health pool and DS.

If anything Minions are long overdue some quality of life but to be honest this would entail alot of work and I cant see them putting in the time to deal with it. It would be different if our class was really popular but we just don’t have the same amount of players as some of the other classes who scream alot louder than us. Between ourselves and Engineers its a stand off to see who gets hit hardest by the patches.

But I guess I can hope minions, all of them, will be viable. Still waiting for minionmancer to be a valid build for dungeons, PvP, and just leveling and grinding.

Minion AI can be really simplified by just giving the players control over “attack” and “return”. Very simple and would take a huge load off the devs having to try and work out complicated AI. It doesn’t solve all the issues but it would certainly make MMs a lot more viable at little dev cost.
