Hey all,
My name is Zero Entity aka Ellisd and I have made a WvW video for your entertainment only. The footage is from only a couple days of play so it wont be a super amazing omg incredible video but i hope it entertains you either way. I’m curious about why you used Well of Blood as your heal, though. I find the cool down on it to be excessively long unless traited, but I noticed you didn’t have that trait. What was your trait build, and what stats are you running on your weapons/armor/trinkets?

Also, at 3:00, obstructed bug FTL. :/

Yeah lol, I was going to call out the 3:00 obstructed too… those invisible ant hills are powerful. Also the failed CB at 5:03, which was either a block or a dodge roll… hard to tell… but still irritating none the less on a 45 second cooldown skill.

EDIT: Also that ele heal in mist form; I am so glad that is getting patched tomorrow. That is completely ridiculous.

Glad you enjoyed it! The reason i was using well of blood in a couple of those clips is because i was healing some seige and just forgot to switch it back. I normally use CC.

I rushed the video a little bit so i had less time to get footage where less bugs occur and less mistakes were made. I wish axe was longer range i have a habit of activating Ghastly Claws to early lol. I’ll post build soon

In the video im running 30/0/20/0/20, with a focus on quick burst with axe and bone minions as well as focusing on crowd control with 80% fear duration reapers protection and greater marks.

I used a mixture of knights/soldiers/berserker but am gearing towards knights/calv/berserker …

My original plan was to do a 0/30/20/0/20 build with necro runes and giver scepter dagger and giver staff but i got bored of condis quick and decided to make frostfang as well

Right now I’ve been rolling conditions cause I feel like axe auto attack is pretty weak. I noticed you hardly even use the axe auto attack, but how strong do you feel the necro axe is right now? I would prefer to run with axe, but I just hate how low the auto attack damage is. I guess with just using it for the ghastly claws burst it would be ok, but even then it seems like you are hurting your dps compared to the dagger.

Completely agree with you here, for spvp i actually run dagger/wh axe/focus with no staff and cycle between all 3 of my channel abilitys and use dagger auto attacks as well

but for WvW I focus on group fights and with the amount of CC i feel there is no time for auto attacks with the axe and id rather have my damage come from bone minions and ghastly claws for quick burst and then back away and switch to staff for cc’s and condi removals. I ran condis 1st in WvW and felt that with all the boon stacking and condi cleanses going around i just wasnt getting the job done in terms of taking players out, i felt extremely weak to most burst classes that can get in kill something then get out. So i decided to make my own variation using axe bone minions and spectral grasp….

I didnt show this in the video since it was rushed but i was planning on getting footage of me spectral grasping players…usually of light or medium armor and using nothing but ghastly claws and bone minions to take them out. Its some of the best burst ive seen any necro do.

In spvp and tpvp axe auto attack suffers a little less since its less chaotic but i still feel its speed needs to be increased to around how it was in beta

Yea, I learned most of what I know about sPvP necro from watching your stream, I still run one of your builds for most of the games I play in.

Cool video and all but I got to say I was hurting watching the build/class in WvW its so weak :/ I know some may not get what I am saying but comparing it to my Ranger, Mesmer or Engineer or even my GS Guardian watching you play I felt pain the class is suffering :/

Its a gimmick class sorry to say but Anet really failed this class.

so that makes us a gimmick class? a necro burst spec would be less dps than say a thief, warrior or mesmer.
but on my burst necro id be comfortable fighting any of those classes. we have tools others dont, as they have tools we dont.
but I would rather play a dps necro than any of the mentioned classes.
even if the dps isn’t as high.

Ofc, but here is the point. When i compare this tools i still feeling that something lacks.
I play a power necro build for roaming (i play wvw only), so no staff, and i agree with who says that with the right build, how to, etc you can do nice things, but that feelings is always here. And if you wanna see something like the “burst” the fastest way is spamming attacks in Lich Form (so 180 secs of recharge), while other classes can do this without big problems

the only thing I find lacking with necro is our mobility.

the dps my power necro can dish out is more than enough and ive only gone 20 into spite. I could get an extra 20% dmg to targets under 50% hp if I could sacrifice something else in my build. which I cant.

I agree tbh. I really enjoyed the video, but the reality is that as far as I can tell the necromancer is really good for two things in WvW… distracting enemies so other classes can neutralize them and carrying supply. The video sorta demonstrates that because as interesting as it is to watch, his necro was really just very marginally effective imo. Not sure how many other people playing necros actually play other level 80s in WvW but once you do, you realize how much less effective necros are in that setting. I also have level a level 80 Mesmer and Engineer, and they are both so much more devastating than my Necromancer. I think people are mistaking the necros ability to gently tap lots of targets and get bags as being usefull. Of course maybe I just suck at WvW on a necro

EDIT: Curious as to the build. I’m guessing 30 in soul reaping for stability since I didn’t see you get knocked down/gang beat or anything while in the shroud… which happens instantly to me when I pop DS without Foot in the Grave.

Try Nemesis’ terror build, its actually amazing “burst”. The burst comes from dropping conditions on them and fear chaining them once they are around 50-75% hp depending on what class they are. The fear will tick for over 1k per second, plus your conditions have free ticking time. I tried it last night in pvp and was winning 2v1’s faster than I could on my mesmer or elementalist. The fear just prevents them from doing anything but watching themselves die a slow death.

terror builds are great arnt they thor, though id say my power necro has FAR more burst than the terror set up.

like you say terror is great for 2v1’s and I do have more success on my terror necro in outnumbered situations.

Yes, I am aware of the terror builds. I use one in WvW myself. Even so, that burst is weak by comparison. The other classes also have an out. A way to completely avoid incoming burst. Necros can’t do that, and it puts them at a severe disadvantage. If you say “Use DS to mitigate burst!” I’m going to laugh at you. Nothing compares to going invulnerable or out right avoiding the burst entirely. Mitigation is not the same thing as avoiding or blocking.

Keep in mind i rushed the video a bit and this isnt the epitome of my gameplay nor necromancer gameplay. The build is 30 spite 20 dm 20sr. The build is really focused on group control with fears and golem charges. Like i said the video was rushed so i didnt get to demonstrate this all that much except for 2 clips with quick reapers prot procs coupled with spectral walk. My next video will demonstrate this more and show how powerfull necro group cc is. I also occasionaly epidemic fears. Im not a terror build although it was my original plan, I enjoy axe better.
