any effective build for necro in wvw atm?
guess none is playing that class in wvw lol
I have a lvl 80 elementalist. dabbled with a lvl 30 warrior, 25 engi, some others, then tried necro. At lvl 10 I brought him into WvW and loved him.
I think most WvW issues for people are about style. It’s not tPvP, where you need to perfect your tactics…wvw is more arbitrary, and you need a build to match that.
I’m lvl 28 now. I’m using spectral walk, spectral armor (? is that the name) as my escapes. I swap between staff and scepter/focus as needed, always tossing my controls first (scepter 2, staff 3). I’m poor, so i’m using my crafted armor and whatever weapons i can get my hands on cheaply.
Am I getting tons of kills? No. Am I killing more than dying? By a long shot. I never felt so survivable on my elementalist, and those guys have a lot of active survival skills.

This is my WvW build. It focuses on chilling people for extended periods of time.

Necro is honestly rather good at WvW, against groups or on your own.
Against groups/people on walls, necro’s have an awful lot of aoe attacks, and no matter how much people complain about spectral grasp, it works fine for me when i consistently pull enemies, not just running away, but off walls and cliffs, then use dark pact before they get back up, which basically confirms their death.
On my own I can confidently beat pretty much anyone on my own, mesmers offering more trouble then any other class. Speaking of which, I had a few fun duels with a IOJ necro yesterday, pretty sure his build was similar to mine.
well necro seems pretty effective in www, at least against enemy zergs
when you put well of darkness and corruption (maybe add suffering too) it really slows down people trying get trough and makes easy for your group to counter them. (plus of course marks to keep people away. .. that chill on blind trait is awesome here. )
The thing is War Mourner, Spectral Grasp could be working a lot better than how well it is working for you now. If you are landing 7/10 hits, it could be landing 99/100. That’s the reason why Spectral Grasp is bad, its so unreliable.

Is my WvW build (not including the armour & weapon stats) I play power necro and do extremely well. Banshee’s Wail and Spectral Mastery allow me to keep up perm Swiftness which is vital in WvW and Wail of Doom inflicts AoE 3 second Daze which shuts down crowds.
Lich Form pumps out 6k crits at about 95% critical chance as the build is pretty much in perm Fury from the runes sitting on about 97% critical damage.
I switch out Banshee’s Wail for Focused Ritial’s when taking down siege equipment off walls. A Mixture of the AoE from wells plus death shroud can take down defenders on walls instantly.
