Set aside the prestige associated with Legendary weapons for a moment and pretend all weapon skills were available for purchase from any vendor for 1 copper. Would any of you necromancers actually want one? The staff, the scepter, and the focus seem to clash dramatically with the look and feel most necromancer’s seem to favor.

No. Aside from it being the hugest waste of time to grind for a skin that gives me no greater advantage than an exotic weapon, none of them appeal to me aesthetically for the weapons I use (dagger, staff, and warhorn). Furthermore, the last thing I want in WvWvW is a trail of rainbow-colored footsteps so my enemies can easily track me.

Deathwish for my staff and the Hall of Monuments skins for dagger and warhorn are just fine by me. They may not be pretty by some players’ standards, but they kill just as efficiently.

Now, when ascended weapons are introduced, I will likely grind for those. Not because of what they look like, but because I want best-in-class stats. If they’re just as ugly as the current legendaries, I’ll probably transmute them to…Deathwish and the HoM dagger and warhorn.

If I had to pick one I’d take the trident.

Most of the legendary greatswords seem to have eaten the designers time as they look pretty good… the rest are rainbows, unicorns, lasers and other fruitiness that doesn’t really suit ‘great and evil’ necromancers.

I tend to forget the underwater Legendaries even exist. Yeah, Kraitkin has the look of “necromancer” to it.

I want one, but nothing speaks “necromancer” to me. I have most of the gifts already finished, but I haven’t settled on a specific legendary yet. I considered Bifrost at one point, however there was a bug months ago where the rainbow effects didn’t work with necromancer particles. I don’t know if that has been fixed yet or not.

I know traditional fantasy games portrays necromancy as evil, but in GW necromancers aren’t evil, and the lore behind necromancers in this game describe them as mediums between life and death as well as caretakers and problem solvers that involve death. Evil is also defined as how you use your power in the GW universe, rather than where your power comes from.

Nothing like a rainbow staff with a big black sickle sticking out….yeah perfect fit….

Dagger and maybe warhorn are the only two that fit at all. Trident is awesome but you’d never see it.

I am working on legendary pieces like the gift of fortune, but I have no plans to make an existing legendary. I just figure that when a necro-suitable legendary comes out, I’ll be mostly done already.

Getting kraitkin. Howler isnt bad but not amazing either. Also considering getting frostfang but then I would have to get rid of Adam and find a icy focus (probably corrupted artifact).

All legendary weapons are hideous IMO and I will never carry one even if they were free (and I mean all, including the GS).

Bifrost, but mostly because i have a thing for collecting main weapons for my characters and im not actually bothering with mats for legendary, just picking stuff up if i can get it; I do have Venom, so maybe ill finally get to be at least 3/4 of a krait (pull, snakes and shredded chain clothes)~

I had plans on frostfang but the daily flushing of gold into the mystic forge is really starting to put me off on the whole idea

If Kratikin was a staff and legendairies where easier to get i d get it. Since i prefer to play PvP i wouldnt bother getting all that is needed for it. Farming dungeons to gear up for WvW is enough of a grind for me

Even if all other legendairies where available for 1 copper i wouldnt get any of them. There are far better looking skins in my opinion both on the TP and from dugneons.
And shooting rainbows of death doesnt really appeal to me…

Focusing on WvW, i would hate to leave a trail behind me thats says “i went that way… come and kill me”
Also people that carry legendairies are usually the first ones i target in WvW… most are easy to spot even in a zerg…

The axe is alright (the whole chill thing), but it’s just as you say OP. I started collecting materials for a legendary dagger, but before I knew it, I began to associate the legendary dagger with quick and mobile classes and the necromancer is anything but. Not to mention the effects go far better with thief dagger skill animations and elementalist attunement swapping etc. That leaves just the axe, but I’m currently torn between what weapons to use on my necromancer and I don’t want to do any heavy investing until I’m completely sure.

I’ve seen a necromancer on maguuma who sort of makes the scepter work, but it still clashes quite a bit.

I think the Axe fits very well. Even more so if you go for a build focused on Chill.

I haven’t liked any of the legendaries I’ve seen so far. The greatswords’ effects seem fun to stare at but theme-wise I wouldn’t even put them on my warrior. Maybe if I had a mesmer though…

I’m working towards Frostfang.

Got my gift of battle. 1 vista away from Gift of Exploration. I have about 280 globs and i’m about 40% into the mats that i need (not including loadstones). Still need the pre-cursor.

I’m averaging about 1 loadstone drop a month, so this should take me about 14 years to complete….

Legendary trident matches perfectly. Sadly its a friggin trident.

Trident and axe are the only somewhat appealing items. The problem, as has been stated already, is that the legendaries are a trident and an axe.

I think frostfang looks really cool… goes with all the chills we have i spose… i would really like a dark themed staff or something… Final Rest is good, but something with an effect would be great.

Yea I decided in beg of game I wanted legendaries because I wanted something else to work at and I like some of the effects/models. I will agree most don’t theme correctly with necro but some do(frostfang because of chill, trident, spear id say cuz why not its a shark+leaves blood trail effect, and I suppose howler with the moon which means night and the clouds/fog on you)
as of right now I have 5 (all land weps besides scepter) made and im working on my 6th (spear).

I know ill get flame posts like"you have no life" “all you do is grind/buy gold” etc, honestly idc I play the tp well and have had amazing luck in the forge and with certain one time events/holiday stuff. Didn’t actually spend much dedicated time going for them just had to set aside my gold/mats for them and make trips to forge/balth temple

Nope. I will echo the sentiment that the only weapons that fit thematically are ones I very rarely use on my Necro.

I am, however, saving up for Eye of Rodgort, the true Necro “Legendary.”

I have frostfang paired with the corrupted artifact—looks pretty great and seems to fit the necro thematically.

I totally forgot about that thing. You know, I think I’m going to make one now. I haven’t had a goal to set for myself for a while. This would renew my interest in PvE a little.

Im a power/well necro with dagger/warhorn… Im close to the incinerator and i think it looks kitten!

I dont get why everyone is playing condition necro… I did that before and… It was terrible. I have much more survivability now, since i go with 30/0/20/20 and power/tough/vit gear, aswell as i have better DPS… The AOE is better aswell. Wells + marks = way better than the conditions which can easily be countered with a condition removal.

Bifrost: looks great, but not for me. Also doesn’t fit the necro motif. I’m the master of death and you want me to run around with a rainbow staff?! GTFO.

Howler: not bad, but not great. Couldn’t justify the effort of getting it for what it is.

Frost fang: very cool, but doesn’t fit my look. I went for Titans Vengeance instead and love it.

Incinerator: pretty sweet and what I’m going for. Not amazing but cool enough to justify the effort. Only real beef is I don’t run a MH dagger build atm so it will be relegated to offhand with scepter.

Personally I’d love a Twilight staff, or something more necro-ish.

Ultimately legendary weaps offer no real benefit, so if you don’t really love one, probably nit worth the effort.

I am headed toward Frostfang. I even got some HOTW armor to match the look and a whole chill build I am excited about! Works great in pvp at least.

Kraitkin looks good, i would get that.

The Dagger is ok too, but i probably stick with my T2-Charr Dagger.

Everything else looks kitten or doesnt fit the necro-style.
Would love to have an Axe/Staff/Dagger with the Twilight-effect tho.

Other than kraitkin, I really don’t like any of the legendaries. They’re too much sloppy flash for me. Even if they were basically given away I wouldn’t want one. None of them fit the necro persona other than the trident.

Kraitkin looks the most appropriate for our class and since underwater is one of our strong suits, bonus.
The only problem is that you can’t show off as much… on the other hand no one seems to make the underwater legendaries.

Frostfang is the only one that is remotely appealing to begin with… Rest are like a flock of butterflies vomiting rainbows in every direction. As far as wvw goes I kill people with annoying legendaries just so my eyes don’t hurt as much.

Finished my Howler just yesterday, pretty awesome, the howling, the wolf and its lit green eyes with the moon effect at night and the mist surrounding you fit perfectly a shady necro

I have the Eye of Rodgort on my necro and it is worth every single one of those 500 powerful bloods. Sadly I’ve yet to find a dagger (aside from legendary) that it doesn’t put to shame.

I post a pic of my necro here, I personally think its a great legendary for necro, or the exotics eye of rodgort like suggested above.

The Howler is perfect for necro’s in my opinion, it coats the user in fog

That combined with The Incinerator would be pretty freakin awesome!

Even cooler would be Frostfang!!!!!!! They’d match together SO WELL! Too bad necro axe is horrible >.<

But aside from those three all the others don’t match at all and would really ruin the whole “necro look,” equating to a lot of wasted time.
