celestial necro build
Here in BUNS, Celestial is the top build for our darling Mister Buns, a necro of amazing talent. :P
You will do well with it in both PvE and WvW.
I’ll direct him to this thread for further questions, as I do not run the spec myself.

You stole me, and I stole you.
Just played a bit with what seems to be the new thing on ele/engi, celestial + strength + battle sig with a power trait layout/leeto trait setup and it worked pretty good.
Gonna do some team queues later on and will see if it is decent enough against people who run more optimized builds then what you typically encounter in hotjoin.
But so far dhuumfire with SR is pretty fun.
Id love a d/d celestial, i really would. but problem i get is the battle swap thing. Id love it so much if DS was a weapon swap cz you dont wanna always go into staff every 10s as its 10s of bad power and meh condi….. though about even switching staff out but then you the fear (also good condi dmg) and its overall best utility
Or if ds#1 was like underwater, 2x less dmg but 2x more speed so you can stack might better.
I run full Ascended Celestial on a Havoc Staff Necro in WvW.
It has a bit more survivability with only a slight damage decrease as the tradeoff.
It really shines with a Sigil of Strength and Runes of Strength though as with Blood is power you can maintain 20-25 stacks of might in almost every fight.
Just returned after break following Dec patch. Was running condimancer in WvW then. Thought about updating to Ascii’s wells build at first, but the Celestial looks interesting.
Don’t have a clue on traits anymore relative to the new meta(s) using power, etc. Can someone offer some trait insights for Celestial builds, links maybe?
From the limited testing I’ve done after the patch, the 0/5/5/4/0 (0/25/25/20/0) build i’ve been using for a while still seems to me like the best option. It allows for rapid bleed/condition stacking with a follow up of strong melee attacks.
Using a staff then either Dagger/Dagger ( for more defensive play) or Dagger/Focus ( for more offensive play) allows for a good combination.
Even with 0 trait points in spite, your attacks still hit hard. Due to the 5 trait points in curses you get 2% extra damage with each condition on the target, making up for the lose of power from the spite tree while increasing the condition damage with the curse tree. In Addition to the 2% extra damage per condition, 10% of your toughness is converted to power through the 5 trait points in the Death Magic tree, while at the same time keeping your armor at a high level.

Forever together, or not at all.
I’ve always thought of Necros as ranged and with the staff would still be to a limited extent, but being a clothie the dagger/dagger melee aspect is the part that I’ve yet to get. I was running 1750 armor toughness before with a variation on Nemesis’ old WvW condimancer and that was with a ranged scepter/dagger. Range on the mainhand dagger is so limited survivability seems something of a mystery to me, lol. Just curious about that aspect of change. I assume the reasoning is that damage is much higher with the dagger or focus, yeah?
