hey guys, I’m new to the game.. started last night, and enjoyed necromancer a lot since the very start. I love how the class is and how they are debuff designed

but leveling Is a bit of a pain and was wondering what skills to go for first to level to kill them faster/easier? and anything else along with tips (:

I also tried some pvp, did today for about 4 hours. read some guides, and saw some videos on youtube, but I’m not sure if they are up to date? if anyone can give me some like set up or something to help out it would be nice :p

also would like to know how these guys are in pvp/pve( I like pvp a lot more usually in games, but so far in leveling here it’s been pretty fun )? any tips would help out a lot (:

You can level in PvP by getting tomes. If your going to level in open world minions are easy mode. You should be able to use zerkers for almost all open world pve…. Actually you should be able to use zerkers for pretty much everything pve.

If you’re new, you won’t get all the best traits right off. For necro, you MUST learn to kite and dodge very well while leveling in PvE. You can’t stand still. Try to update your armor and weapons every 10 levels or so, with stuff from karma vendors, or bought off the trading post if you have some coinage.

I hope you have fun with your necro. It was the first class I made, and even after the playing a faceroll warrior for some time, I’ve come back to my necro and am loving it. She has 99% world completion now. Minions are definitely the way to go in PvE. I don’t PvP so won’t be any help to you there.

For PvP/WvW, go for a staff. Great range, okay cooldowns, very nice effect on 5 (fear). Lets you tag enemies quickly and effectively.

The first skill I got was Signet of the Locust for speed and a small heal for last resort. Also get Consume Conditions as your main heal skill. Signet of Spite is another great skill passive or active. Well of Power is your stunbreak and offers stability. Also, helps clear conditions from you and your group so it’s on my toolbar a lot. For elite skill, go with flesh golem first. As far as weapons, I used dagger/focus for quick kills, staff for groups and range. I still use this combo for WvW and works great.

Of course if you want minion master, that is another option for leveling, but I would still have Signet of the Locust on my bar for mobility. it sucks running slow.

As far as traits, the spite line will help with damage early on, but if you are dying a lot, put points in Death Magic or Blood Magic. it’s now free to do.

Make sure you use Death Shroud. It’s what makes a Necro a truly tough customer and is a weapon all on its own. Hope this helps and have a great time..
