i’ve been questioning the usefulness of this skill for a while. sure it is a ‘burst skill’ kind of, sure it heals for about 1800(yay), and it has an obnoxious cooldown for such a quick weapon. but would anyone be willing to give up the skill entirely for something LIKE heartseeker. i do not mean a simple leap to your target and that target takes damage based on HP threshold, i mean an instant damaging skill. maybe a ~8s CD dagger whirl that syphons?

I still personally think the lack of a burst skill on dagger is what prevents a melee necro from making any sense at all… Some people like the dagger 2, but I can’t imagine why. A channeled skill that has a low damage component because of its healing aspect is not ideal unless you dump 30 in SR specifically for stability so you can finish the cast.

Now if Dark armor granted stability while channeling and moved to master tier it would be a more useful skill.

Most people just use it when you are stuck outside of melee range, your swap is on cooldown, your DS is on cooldown, and your dagger 3 and 4/5 skills are on cooldown. A skill we look forward to using would be nice though, instead of a, when all else is unavailable (similar to Axe 1).

i was thinking a quick whirl. like death blossom….which would be a better name for a necro skill anyway. it would be a whirl not an evade though and do direct damage for 2-3 hits.

Personally, I greatly enjoy using Dagger #2. I am however very upset that the recent patch nerfed its healing, when it was already lackluster.

I wouldn’t mind a burst skill instead, but I would prefer they just balance the current skill so it is worth using more often.

The reason I like it is because of flavor, not necessarily function. I like siphoning health in any game I play, and the animation for Dagger #2 is so cool… you literally suck the life out of them =)

It isn’t as nice currently, but pre-patch I could steal quite a bit of HP with Dagger2 since it is a channel skill that pulses multiple times(each one proccing life steal food, vampiric, vampiric precision).

I am not saying it is a powerful ability, but I do enjoy using it.

Dagger 2 is useless in WvW. The only time I use it, as a solo roamer, is when my target is trying to flee and all my shiz is on cool down.

What about changing it to a 2 part necro themed gap closer?

Taste of blood: when you cast taste of blood, chill your target for x seconds and gain 100% movement speed for x seconds

-> Sanguine Stab: while you are under the effect of taste of blood, deal x damage to target and siphon x health

Just a quick, poorly thought out idea but a gap closer on our melee weapon would be great, especially if the implementation is different than other classes.

100% is too much, but say 50% for a second or two would be okay. But it won’t happen most likely. Anet likes necros with low mobility by design. It is unfortunate because dagger necro REALLY needs more mobility to be effective. How many other melee classes lack mobility skills and still do well?

Interesting idea though.

Inrease the range and the healing component (and scaling with healingpower).
Let it heal allies if u have traitet “Transfusion”.
Or per trait (Daggers have 2, but both are lackluster) a Chance to steal Boons or apply chill (or rnd condition per tick/chance per tick torment/weakness/chill for example).

That would be what a Necros does. Necros don“t charge or run ike..redrunners.
