death shroud and reaper
You make a good point. There is no real way to play a ranged necro that traits into the reaper line without handicapping yourself.
Granted the traitline seems to be pretty heavily focused around melee, but you make a good point that this can situationally pose to be issue.
Forcing the use of greatsword for RS ruins RS… Greatsword is too slow to be viable. Also, condi reaper can’t work without reaper shroud (They already nerfed it to oblivion, but this would make it nonexistent). Also, when using RS, you need to think of it as swapping to a melee weapon. To be honest, this accentuates how bad axe is, because axe is not a viable substitute for ranged damage on a power necro.

dont get me started on axe, ive made countless threads about it for years. If axe was a true ranged power weapon it would solve a LOT of problems.
the correct fix would to make DS f1 and RS f2, but I simply dont see this happening… it should, but I dont see it. as it stands right now, the major threat behind DS is life blast. anyone can run from a necro, even guardians, but shooting them in the back and fearing is how 90 percent of (my) fights end. RS is based on being hulking and poweful and chilling, but thats only if someone goes head to head with you in melee. If a medium/ranged bursty fellow comes along RS is dead, just dead. Not only is RS dead, the Necro itself is dead. Atleast now, with the threat of DS and (and a combination of other things) we can “close” the gap / maintain some damage from beyond 300 range. I just can imagine too many situations where we pop F1 and people disengage asap and range. after that, what, do we F1 again and… do what? put RS on cd?
Im being mostly vague here but we can probably all come up with 101 situations where DS would actually be help. I dont know if the right answer is RS through GS, but I think its the most realistic option
