gs to slow everything else stronger.
That’s because we don’t use greatswords on Reaper for PvP mate. The only reason I would ever use it is if I run zerker and I really really want to randomly 1 shot somebody with a random kitten gravedigger hit.
Do the usual dagger/warhorn + staff, or run condi like some other people, condi reaper is pretty good right now. Just don’t take greatsword for PvP and you will perform a lot better.
The GS is frequently bad also for PvE, the Dagger is better for both the situations as a dps weapon.
Gravedigger is a very high damage skill but it’s also a skill so slow that the enemy can simple outrun you and evade the attack or prepare it’s dodge/evade/block/blind/immunity with a lot of time.
In 1vs1 is really bad, you can use it only in XvsX hoping no one is looking at you or everyone had already used all the skills to evade your damage.
I use Greatsword, and dont have much problem landing the majority of my stuff, but then again Generally i spend Alot of my time in Reaper Shroud which does Attack ALOT faster haha.
Tbh, the issue currently is, Herald and Dragonhunter are currently quite abit ahead of the Rest, with Unrelenting assault ur Shrouds getting taken out pretty quickly… and Dragonhunters just hurt ALOT, Daredevils can make landing kitten a nightmare, but generally Reapers are much closer to balance so u will find it irritating for a few balancing patch.
Also what is said above, the Dagger Does output Damage faster its Pretty strong still and Does work with Reaper very well aswell as some Condi builds which are now floating around such as Rabid Chill Reaper.

So basically the only thing going for Reaper is spamming its Auto which only works on people who dont negate damage while in melee.
…you have so many ways to secure hits on enemies, root them first, use grasping darkness, executioners scythe, CttB… If you could just spam Gravedigger with a 3/4 cast time or something that would be extremely stupid, really.
In PvE it’s fine too, mobs don’t even move too much there most of the time and you can get some really mean hits in. D/F is overall better at lifeforce generation than GS though, in my opinion.
they usually always have stability- are immune-are blocking-blind then you also have terrain issues and the skill just not activating even if you spam it and let go of the mouse when someone is behind you/to the side. grasping darkness is pointless at the moment.
if it was instant cast and forced you to turn around then it could be useful but right now everyone dodges it
revenant combined with druid = just leave the point and don’t bother i was playing marauder shout necro and i couldn’t even drop them below 50% and they ate all my attacks!!

I did notice that grasping darkness’s activation is kind of wonky, yeah. Sometimes gives me the no line of sight error despite being on even terrain and looking at the enemy.
But you’re aware of enemies generally having boons, in particular stability; why not strip them first? Now, I’m no pro-PvPer, far from it, so it might that it just works for me because my enemies aren’t on a high level either, but using RS2 with Path of Corruption, Spinal Shivers or Well of Corruption usually works for me, given you’re not looking at someone with a full bar of boons (looking at you, eles)
Didn’t even look at Rev’s skillset yet, so I don’t know how many boons they apply and in what way.
GS is actually great in PvP, but you don’t want to camp it. Pair it with the axe, for example, and you can pressure people really effectively until the time is right to switch to GS (i.e., you’ve set up your attacks). GS is awful to camp (its too slow, predictable, and kiteable) but makes a great rotation inbetween shroud and your offhand (which is preferably ranged to keep up unkiteable pressure).
Pretty sure gs was never meant to be a good pvp weapon. It is massively better in pve, where an aoe pulsing field, vuln and pulls are more useful. Also, I’m kind of glad to see less reapers in pvp. Too many bad kids who want to get carried by their spec, and never actually learn the game. The real problem with necros is the over abundance of vuln, and might wall sacrificing damage modifiers. Also, death magic should give boons of some sort from both the first 2 minors.
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.

This. Most of you are failing to adapt.
Maybe try using Sigil of Speed and doing a Swap→GS 2 for Gravedigger + Quickness? Done quickly you really increase your chance of landing hits.
I’m liking the reaper not quite gotten a sweet spot for it yet but was fighting my guildy the other day he plays a ele/tempest (celestial) while I am playing gs reaper (solider) fight lasted a good 10-15 mins of constant attack without breaking combat once I eventually came out the winner in that encounter boy it was a “good” fight exhausting though ;d

To add to this, a great analogy is that you can think of it just like playing a medi guard, which no one can argue is an inferior spec. No mediguard camps GS; in fact, you don’t even use the GS auto (nor should you on the reaper)…mediguards camp scepter/focus for ranged pressure and then swap to GS when they want to burst. This style of play is exactly how a GS reaper should function, except its even easier for a reaper because you have an entire 3rd weapon swap (shroud) to use in a dps/cc/stomp/stalling rotation!
