A Reaper is this angry unstoppable avenger that comes for you in the night.

And what is Anet doing?! They give us infobits about underpowered skills and traits of the Reaper profession. They are creating tons of angry Necro-players. Once they Reaper goes live those will come for you, furious without hesitation or remorse.

come on, no one wants to face a happy smiling Reaper, you know it.

Going to use mine as a farming machine in PvE; pun intended. Other than that I cannot see us being useful in most other game modes. I am sure there are some builds that might be good in WvW or PvP, but honestly any class than can kite us will always win.

What if there plan is to make Reaper seem underpowered so all the necros except the dedicated few leave, then at the last minute super-buff them so there’s only a few massive destructive forces out there?

Know it’s not legitimate, but that’d be pretty funny :p

I caught several Nike warriors in WvW the other day…I was happy.

The great-sword is slow. The Reaper specialization isn’t inherently slow. Taking reaper doesn’t force you to take great-sword.

I will be taking Dagger/War-horn and Staff on my Reaper and going Reaper and Soul Reaping. Not sure whether I will take Spite or Curses though.

Greatsword isn’t even that slow compared to the rest of our profession. Gravedigger is, but the rest is no slower than the rest of what we’re used to dealing with.

Agreed

Its auto attack is about as fast as warrior hammer.
Gravedigger has a total cast time of about 1.8s including after cast but has a purpose of being aoe backstab spam.
Nightfall casts as fast as mesmer Gs #3
Reapers grasp cast as fast as guard GS #5
Death Spirals 1s we are already used to.

Except that we mostly 1-1-1-1-1—1-1-1 with Dagger, and that that slow. The damage on GS needs to be truly MASSIVE to compete with dagger and losing WH (it actually needs to deal more damage than any other similar weapon because of the hammer-attack-speed while not having a Hammers utility), or every Power-Necro will still use Dagger/WH and use Reaper only for Reapers Shroud and traits.

Dagger and GS dont really compete. They are functionally very different, they just both do power damage.
