Since I started playing this game in late 2015 I’ve only played Guardian. When Bitterfrost Frontier released, I could manage but the enemies hit hard and I would get downed pretty often.

So I 80-boosted a Necro and dang, it is totally easy mode! Sure it kills slower, but you have so much cushion that you can play lazy and truly faceroll almost everything. Minions and bleed stacks, repeat as necessary.

I don’t even have Reaper fully unlocked. Just vanilla Death/Curses/Blood melts everything in your path. I started going after hero points the other day, and the HOT zones that always kicked my Guard’s @55 felt like cream puffs all of a sudden. Veteran Bristleback? Pish, just bleed him out. Champ stonehead? Bleed him out.

Not complaining, just making a revelation! It’s actually kind of relaxing to play this way.

PvE…

In WvW Reaper is probably the only class that can flip a T3 camp in less than 1 Minute standing still in melee range – doesn’t matter if he runs condi or power.

And 2 minutes later you’re getting killed in 20 seconds by a random Berserk-Thief/Berserk-Revenant/Berserk-Warrior.

In common PvE the necromancer is the best class ever.

The problem is when you face another player, both if you’re doing dungeons and compare your dps or support to his (the only things that matter in a dungeon) or you play against him and get hard-kicked all the time without mercy.

I can flip a t3 camp with allied mobs in under 10s in wvw from my burn guard.

@op I’d say that you are right and wrong at the same time. The point is that guard with a proper build just faceroll PvE content even easier than the necromancer. Honestly, when it come to sturdyness in open world PvE both classes are at a tight tie. It’s just that sturdy builds for guardian are not often use or wildly spread.

No core profession should be balanced around an optional elite specialization.

Flipping takes at least 30 seconds plus the time you need to kill the mobs.

But yes, a necro can’t kill the mobs in under 10 seconds. Interesting to hear that a one trick pony burn guard can do it.

weakness, soft cc, ranged weapons, minions.

yes open world pve is easycheesy on necro but slow dps and non-existent mobility is not gonna be fun for long

Even non-existent mobility isn’t an issue because you have access to lots of RS buff and as long as you camp range, go full minion skill bar and spec minion condition transfer, everything ignores you and mobility has never been an issue anyways.

And yes, that is correct what you say about the easycheesy. The build is too easy, itls slow and it’s boring to play. It’s the “watching Netflix” build for sure.

That’s just it… I don’t have to build for it, I don’t have to think about it… Even using the generic Rabid gear the 80 boost gave me, and no experience with the class whatsoever, I put down nearly everything in my way with no effort. The times I do get downed/killed it’s because I forget that I have a get out of jail free card with Shroud on top of everything else. Why bother with blocks and blinds and evades for the same result as standing still and autoattacking?

I got almost all my Elite hero points yesterday, and now with Rise! I barely even need to dodge anymore. It’s laughable.

I’m going to upgrade my Ranger next. She’s been my lv 53 salvage mule since the beginning, but somebody else will have to get that job.

Yea necro is great against ai that can barely think and is easy to predict and move around especially open world.

How many solo arah Neuro runs are there.

Necro gets some stuff but its realy ability is how lackluster it can be in specific situations

Well… there is not a lot (still I can think of a few), But at least there is more of them than solo ranger’s.
Solo Arah is a good example of what plague the necromancer in solo challenge : mobility.
(Well It’s alos a good example of what plague the ranger : the pet)

PS.: You know Etterwyn, What you’re describing about your experience with the necromancer is exactly the same experience I got with core guardian. To put it simply I just facerolled GW2 open world content by using hammer auto attack and I did the same to carry some ex-guild member through most of the core dungeon. No hard time, just timely use an “Oh Sh*t!” button from time to time (and guardian have plenty of “Oh Sh*t!” button). The real difference lie behind that. The real difference is that while guardian support will substantially help any team, the necromancer’s support won’t (even if Anet already improved a lot this “support”).
