I would hhave put this in another thread, but it got off topic by spammers.

I find the jagged horror trait useless. Why? Because when one is formed, it is after killing my enemy. When fighting a single higher leevel mob, it is pointless. Especiallly sincee it dies from degen before I can move to the next monster. During fights with multiple enemies, only one is still summoned due to the CD. Also, it only has timeto attack once or twice before degen and aoe kills it. It seems only with the death nova trait can this trait be useful. However I have also noticed that more often than not, when in a larger group fight, the horror dies from degen while running between foes more often than from being attacked by a foe, rendering the death nova useless too.

Any other thoughts?
ANet, this trait can use some rework. Even just taking off the degen could make it useful

Hey, I’m only level 70 and I can already remember two instances of the little guy grabbing a mob’s attention for a second or so before it died!

Don’t say the death-bunnies are useless! They are, but you don’t wanna hurt their feelings.

It is a prime example of traits not synergizing well with each other and skills.
My 2 cents:
- health degen should be smaller

- cooldown can remain, but the horror’s spawn should be triggered by a factor happening mid-fight, such as crit
OR
- cooldown can be lowered, but there should be a possibility to maintain horrors and spawn multiple at once during large fight after every kill

In both cases the death nova trait would finally be usefull and jagged horros would have bigger presence in fights.

a compromise could be to switch degeneration from time based to damage based so they lose a fixed x% health every time they hit something.
this way they still have a pretty heavy limitation but at least get to survive enough to actually be usefull.

Even when they do attack they do like 40 dmg at lvl 80 with all the +minion dmg traits.

I would have to agree, maybe change the or to an and though.

A truly worthless trait without any merit whatsoever. They don’t live long enough to be of use. The health degen needs to be halved at least, and the cooldown should be removed/lessened.

As an exclusive sPvP Necromancer, I find this minor trait alright, it may seem like an useless trait, pet doing nothing just dying. Most of u apparently forgot that things getting killed around you grants you Life force, so in sPvP I find this quite alright, not the best minor trait but definetely not the worst one as well.

The life force gain is negligible considering the CD and the investment of the trait. As for the horror’s themselves, even with Death Nova, unless they are in the middle of a large mob that is even laughable because mine often just die before they can get to another baddie. Combine this near useless functionality with the annoying triggering of the “oh no my minion died” (add race specific quote of choice) makes a near useless trait into one that is actively annoying! Don’t get me wrong, I like the voice (for the most part), but repeatedly moaning about a horror gets on my nerves and makes me want to avoid the death trait line altogether.

Take away their life degen and/or give them a slight passive ability (perhaps while they are alive other minions get a slight boast in damage or something) and they could be useful. Really anything because I WANT to like them as I loved them in GW1 (played a MM for a long time there).

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Suggested fix: Lower degen and make it so a jagged horror is summoned on death of anything in X radius from necromancer.

Seeing as this seems to be meant to compliment a minion build, if a minion dies it will be replaced by a jagged horror.

Edit: In other words, make it more like : http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Jagged_Bones

SERIOUS BUG HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jagged horrors have like 300 hp and if a down player kills them they get up from DOWNED.

So you cant deeps them, you cant run up and gank them because many classes have those AOE abilitys.

Pun intended, this is heavily crippling to using the death tree!

I’d also like to see something happen with this trait. The suggestions already made are pretty good, and likely what needs to be done.

Just to add to the consensus then, I think Jagged Horrors would be fixed by any or all of the following:

- reducing the degen, or changing how it functions (always taking certain damage when attacked)
- reducing the cooldown
- spawning on something besides death, such as crits, or a certain amount of bleed damage done to a single target
- changing their spawn location from near the necromancer, to near the target killed

That last point hadn’t been mentioned yet, but I think it’s important. Since they spawn near the necro like other pets, it often degens before it even reaches the next target in many fights.

Since I’m trying to make a pet necro work (and necro pets have other issues), I really hope ANet gives this trait some attention.

This is what I was alluding to as well. They spawn and are often dead before they get to the baddies…especially when running a staff build where you are keeping your distance.

I’d be fine with this passive being removed entirely. Instead give 5% movement speed or something while a pet is active
