necromancer shortest fear duration. other classes can do 3~5 seconds fear. this is very unfair in spvp. and i think master of terror trait(50% increased fear duration) is useless because all necro fear skills have 1 second duration. it is +0.5 second. can you see 0.5 second as human? warrior and thief can do fear for 3~5 seconds. i think most necromancer skills and traits are not very useful and powerful like other classes. if it is not useful, it should be powerful. if it is not powerful, it should be useful.

I would argue that being powerful is being useful and vise versa. However, I completely agree that our fear is just a sad version of other classes’ fears when it should be the other way around.

Maybe the reason why ANET gave us a short fear is because we have two fears when using staff. Maybe they see it as oh you can fear 1 second from staff then another 1 second from ds. Honestly after playing more and more spvp. I would give up DS for some buffs in fear duration, stability, and might.

I’ve done a condition duration/condition dmg build getting 2 second fears with the fear on dmg trait.

If you get 40% condition duration from 20 in Spite and 20% condition duration from runes + 50% Fear duration trait you can get 2 dmg tics from the Dmg on Fear trait (which is condition dmg btw, scales with condition dmg stat) and is basically like Burn but slightly better. Could get up to 750 dmg per tic.

Still sucks that you have to go out of your way just to get average fears, but yeah. =/

And yes 20 + 20 + 50 = 90, but that was giving me 2 tics.

I’d kill for some stability too. But I don’t buy the 2 fear thing given I can stun/knockdown a person on a engineer, warrior or mesmer until the cows come home. Fear is the only condition that doesn’t even stack.
