Hi guys!

I recently started a necromancer and she’s at lvl25 now, I’m starting to think about builds and gear for when she turns 80 (it’s a little ways ahead, but I like to be prepared). I’ve been looking at the thread here and other places to try to get a general consensus on what will be good, and I think I’m getting a bit overwhelmed as I’m not as familiar with skill/traits yet.

I came across this build, and I would like to know if this is outdated and if this is a good conditiomancer build: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArYWjMaN7pbub8bKCJFP7aQFef0DiZskRVYdA Also, I see a lot of S/D build, but I also noticed that if you go with warhorn there’s this awesome 33% speedboost thing, is that a good thing for conditionmancer? I like speedboost as I’m spoiled with my thief’s speedboost, but I dont want to sacrifice the output damage I can do for just a bit faster run though…

For gear, should I go straight Carrion or should I mix and match with something else? with runes, would it be better to go with something that adds condition damage and either vitality/toughness, or should I go with Afflicted?

Thank you guys for any help that you can provide!

PvP, WvW or PvE – specs differ depending on what you’re aiming to do

I’m aiming for PvE mainly, and sometimes WvW but not as much, since I’m not a WvW person, only in it occassionally to change things up.

The Warhorn is a lower damage option, but off-hand Dagger isn’t going to be a major source of damage for you, compared to what you’ll do with a scepter main hand. Plus, Warhorn gives you a (small) AoE 2 second daze.

The swiftness from Locust Swarm is nearly enough to justify Warhorn alone, so I wouldn’t worry much about taking it when Wail of Doom is also amazing.

Mixing insults with your post is like pooping in a salad.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

Yeah dagger offhand is a bit lackluster for PvE. The blind and extra condition removal is kinda nice, and whilst enfeebling blood is a decent skill, its often much better used via the trait. Of course, you can use both to squeeze out a bit more bleed though.

Guild missions say otherwise.

from a personal standpoint, and not a play to win standpoint.. have a warhorn on your at all times until you get to 80. having that swiftness will speed up your playing process a lot, and you will thank whoever told you to do it. the daze is also a good ConeAoE daze that can get you out of face-to-face mob binds when you really need to get out.

as a general tip, conditionmancers (as in, full condition builds with NO power) are going to dissatisfy you when you siege in WvW (like zerging) or when you need to DPS on a boss or event mob. you will hit bleed caps, and your graytyped power damage will be less that satisfactory.

also given, condition based gear lacks vitality, and most condition gear lacks toughness except for the hard to obtain Rabid set which is dungeon only or Khilbron buyable.
you will be considerably squishy and your main lifeline will be to manipulate bleeds.

as soon as you run into someone who knows how to cleanse conditions, sometimes even convert them into boons…

you’ll be ineffective.

I love conditionmancers, and from a practiced view, they can kill quickly if you can manage to get your opponent to focus on you and not on bubbling up. this is rare though, and you will find that it can sometimes get boring or frustrating because you won’t have an alternate workaround to being a stacked condition build.

my two cents.

imho, work in some balanced power w/ your conditions and look at Zintair’s cirtmancer build.

Hay going off topic for a sec, the necro is 1 of the few classes that can have a permanet swiftness up, all you need is spectral walk and warhorns 5 and points for boon duration, that’s what iv done for now, and it works great for map completion and speed farming

Be the change you want to see in the world

is Carrion not a good gear choice? it’s p/v/cd?

do you have a link to the critmancer build?
