make downed fear aoe based
As long as it’s a reasonable (say 120-240 units) PBAoE, that wouldn’t be terribly OP. Any Profession has ways around that, but it’d save yer behind from stomps or mobiles.

Since Guardian has AoE knockback and Ranger has AoE daze I think that Necro having AoE Fear would be fair.
Right now Necros don’t have a way to move around while downed nor any way to AoE interrupt…
It actually makes them the only Profession to have neither in their downed mode.
To be fair Necro’s downed mode is quite average as is, but I think that it’s because some Professions just have one or two really bad downed skills and one that redeems them.

And the knockbacks and dazes can interupt an opponent mid-stomp. Fear cannot. Once the opponent’s stomp animation has begun, it is over for the necro.
Aoe fear sounds good but many classes block it or are immune. Even so, as far as I can tell, we have one of the better set of downed skills among the classes.. Our first skill damages an opponent and heals us at same time. 3rd skill is an aoe condition damage. 2nd skill is often blocked or the opponent is immune, but when it works, it’s nice.

This… Strikes me as entirely false. The stomp animation is at base 3 seconds long, right? Plenty of room to interrupt it.

also yes ranger does the daze then what ? I stomp again and its done
or i just blind the ranger daze misses and he gets killed same with guardians push.
If it’s aoe it still can be negated but it might help agaisnt ppl who stomp while invisible so i like the idea. The cast time is fine btw.

might be lag but i experience this so often, trying to cast fear at the right time to rupt a stomp.. almost impossible without knowing what is going on, what conditions are on you etc.
Also if i dont fear before the stomp i am most definitly dead, if i do get my fear off its still useless since all the blink stunbreaks cleanse stability etc. lets not mention the 3-4 people trying to stomp ^^
screw it give us vengeance with al our skills off cooldown :P

I agree with this idea. I also think that it should apply to every class, meaning that every class should have at least one skill that temporarily delays stomps from multiple players.
1. Elementalist – mist form
2. Thief – shadow escape
3. Mesmer – deception
4. Guardian – wave of light
5. Ranger – thunderclap
6. Engineer – booby trap
7. Warrior – vengeance
All these skills theoretically prevent a stomp from multiple sources at the same time. Some can be countered with stability. Necromancer has no downed state skills that prevent a stomp from multiple sources at the same time. We can trait for AOE fear on down. I do not think it would be difficult coding wise to change Fear to an AOE fear.
The one problem I can see complaints about is the fact that, traited with terror, this will also deal damage.
First off, I agree that the downed fear is quite lacking when compared to the others.
Secondly, a stomp can be interrupted mid animation with fear.
That would be extremely OP,
To compensate other classes should be able to push all enemies away from them, teleport away, become invisible, be able to be resuscitated by npc’s companions while able to interrupt and even stand up again and fight as normal…
oh wait…
Sorry but Warrior Vengeance and Engineer Booby Trap are not ways to prevent stomps by multiple players seeing as those are on a 7s or so cooldown when you first go down. Both Warrior’s and Engineer’s #2 skill in down state are both single target and arguably worse than the Fear seeing as at least Necros can trait the fear to last longer and deal damage.
