I may be missing something with necro. See, I am not thrilled with all the skills that actually damage the necro.

Is there a suitable play style which does not use these self-damaging attacks? I understand how they would kind of fit the “esthetic” of a necro, but I am more concerned with surviving and defeating enemies than esthetic concerns!

But maybe I am really not playing the necro correctly by not using them. It just strikes me that there all these skills which I will never use.

I am at lvl 27, I got downed only 1 time so far so maybe I am doing OK, I was not actually defeated ( I got up again). I don’t play like a maniac, just trying to spam attacks or something. I always try to use a profession smartly, avoid it’s weaknesses and capitalize on it’s strengths. .

So, maybe I am doing OK with the necro. But I am beginning to think, I may be fighting the profession.

Minions I dislike as well.

So, although doing OK it would seem, I wonder if the necro is not what I am looking for. Maybe I am using a small subset of the necro skills and will be more and more gimped as I progress…I just do not know.

The actual drawbacks to Corruptions (Utility skills which apply conditions) are often much less than they appear, especially when you combo them with other Necro Abilities. Skills like dagger 4, staff 4, consume conditions, plague signet and well of power are waiting to throw those conditions back at your enemies, or to empower you with them.

Even without one of those skills available, I’d say that epidemic and corrosive poison cloud are still pretty safe to use. Three stacks of vulnerability barely matters, and the 6 seconds of weakness is acceptable if you’re willing to give up damage.

As to whether or not a necromancer is what you’re actually wanting to play: only you can answer that. I’d say that you’ll only find more skills you actually like as you continue though.

Mixing insults with your post is like pooping in a salad.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
