no Necromancy here, just The Reaper
Why condi? The reaper looks more like a power cleaving specialization with lots of chill.
You seem… Upset.
i am a little. any other game in history i make a character called Necromancer, i get a guy who summons limitless minions and uses them to his fullest advantage. gw2 i get a guy who’s 90% condi focused, summons at most 5 underpowered cannon fodder, and 1 decently strong minion with the AI of a rock.

so, the Necromancer is gonna be a melee class specializing in Condi. thats… neet. is it too much to ask for a Necromancer that practices, oh i dunno, Necromancy?
and yes, i saw Rise. a skill that summons 5 of the weakest ally npc’s in the game. theyre literally 1 step above ambients, and their hp drains over time just for being alive. woopie.
and no mention of if we’re getting Trahearne’s 5 flesh golem skill… at least officially deny it so we can stop dreaming of how glorious it’d be to be half as powerful as an NPC.
Remember Death Nova is a thing, which synergizes in a godlike way with very fragile minions that lose HP over time
I’m still very skeptical about all of this but jagged horror’s don’t bother me too much. When they die, they grant you life force. If they die fast, that’s quick life force. I’m okay with that, personally.
Champion: Phantom, Hunter, Legionnaire, Genius
WvW rank: Diamond Colonel | Maguuma
For what it’s worth, not all fantasy settings have Necromancers doing nothing but sommoning hordes of undead. In some it’s a form of magic that is almost entirely offensive and takes your life force to use.
Then there’s the simple fact that ANet implemented pets/minions/ai absolutely horribly so I really can’t imagine too many people want this aspect of the class/game expanded on without first improving it.

oh come the kitten on, it’s this old type of ‘where are my skellingtons’-whine thread again?
i thjought we’ve been over this. there must be at least half a dozen threads about that already. summoning is only a smallpart of being a necromancer. And has always been; in gw1, gw2 and in a couple of other games aswell. Diablo 2 for example. Or baldurs gate.

Did you all miss that AoE stun that the Reaper has?
In the video he stun cold those monsters… all at once….
The greatsword is optional.
The only aspects of the elite spec that are inescapable are the traits (which includes the mechanic changes). So long as you have trait support for the various build types then you’re fine. We don’t know all of the variants of the death shroud skills (except that any existing trait that affects Deathshroud will still do so) nor anything but the minor traits.
If what we’ve seen for other elite specs is any guide, they’ve tried to accommodate a variety of build choices.

Yeah, looked like a short duration AE Deepfreeze to me.
If they chose a Condition to make a entire specializzation I can hardly think about a real accomodation for other builds than that.
SK and GS will inflict Chill, but if you don’t play them both you can’t keep the enemy under Chill and half of your strategy fall down.
For the Dragonhunter Anet focus on Lb and new traits, adding traps. And guardians say that it’s hard to make builds that don’t use a Lb or traps, with that traits.
If you think that ANet chose a Specific Condition to make our specializzation… if we don’t use that condition we can’t really play that specializzation.
I bet these salty tears could melt steel beams.

Not enough vulnerability stacks.

You chill on Fear. We have multiple fear generators that work well with just about any necro playstyle. We can also chill on blind with a trait, and there’s a trait that triggers spinal shivers.
There’s plenty of access to Chill, it won’t be restrictive to builds.
