no idea why out of the few necromancer weapons off hand dagger doesnt have life force…. sorry if i make the post but searching for post is really hard in guild wars 2.. feel that without life force its hard to like dagger.

Off hand dagger its actually nice and the problem its not the life force, but the mobility.
I believe staff is a must for any build.
Then ofcourse i dont count gs cause that suks, and thats why i only see a necro with a gs once every 5 days or so.
So u can have focus warhorn or dagger for off hand, again focus is too bad cause of the very long casting times, that leaves u with wh or dagger, if u pick dagger u are always gonna be late rotating , u can pick traits for 25 percent speed in bm, but im talking optimal builds.
So players pick wh because of mobility thats the main reason, the signet is not bad , but u need specif build for that.

Not at all , like i said its actually nice, but u need to take wh for mobility.
Im not gonna lie , when i see the other team is heavy on condi i do take dagger (rarely i must add) but then i use traveler runes because u really need to rotate.
Its all about rotation this game.
This is why u might see me ingame cursing when i see some 1 afk at point alone the whole game

Yepp offhand dagger is bad mainly because of the lack of lf generation but i dont see that changing anytime soon.

It is kinda ironic that the most defensive offhand weapon (blind, condi transfer, weakness) has no lf generation. Especially since you would associate dagger with bloodmagic and thus it should ether have lf generation or life steal like main hand dagger has.

U get life force from marks , from aa from staff, from spectral armor, from septer and dagger main hand, from deaths and minions if u use them ,but mobility u have no othet way to get swifness apart from wh.
So the main reason imo its really the mobility.

Actually you are wrong, you have other means to get swiftness as necro (e.g. spectral walk). Dont get me wrong, swiftness is indeed a big reason (maybe even the biggest) why wh is taken as offhand weapon but it is not the reason why offhand dagger is bad.

It is bad because it is the only necro weapon that doesnt generate lf. Yeah even with lf generation offhand dagger wont be taken in most meta builds but it is still the thing it needs the most after all it is supposed to be our more defensive offhand weapon.

You know we had alot of discussions about our offhand dagger in the past. And the lack of lf generation was always mentioned as one of the bigger problems.

Off hand dagger is a weapon, so i compare why take wh over dagger.
I dont count focus , like i explain its too slow.
I know u have spectral walk, but i wrote off hand dagger is actually nice, its not bad.
But the reason wh is better for me,its because of mobility.
Its like saying lexus is bad and ferrari is good the 2 are good.
Oh dagger is good i like it, but i prefer to take wh because of mobility.
Do u want to sacrifice 1 utility slot for spectral walk its ok nps i also like sw, but atm i think there is better than sw utilitys to take.

There is some skills that are almost beeing taken because of the utility.
Spectral armor , wurm, cb,suffer,rise,plague signete, double wells maybe.
The thing is,here is not much space to take sw.
Traveler runes also they r not optimal.
Life force from wh is nice but the condi tranfer from dagger is also nice… so u need to choose whats the best for the given situation.

I believe you are wrong on this one.

How about you look though the necro subforum for offhand dagger topics? You will see that most people actually complain about offhand dagger because of the lack of life force.

You also have to understand that offhand dagger is supposed to be our defensive offhand (hence the condi transfer, the blind and the weakness). And for the better or the worse our shroud is integral for our surivability. So for a defensive offhand to be any good it needs to support our shroud by having lf generation.

Like i said and its my opinion, u have good reliable ways to generate life force including the other weapons, but swifness u dont.
So if u are facing many necros wouldnt u rather have the of dagger.
Anyway doesnt matter its my opinion, and i think oh dagger is fine.
U should ask to your guild mayes or friends why they pick wh mos of the time.
If u running ex. power build d/h , why u think they need the wh the most?
Dagger as a short range and they need the swifness to stick to the target, because necro is too slow thats why.
But go ahed and ask your friends and u will see what they say.
U could aford to play with wh even if he didnt give life force, but playing with no swifness as a necro then u just cant rotate, u will get decaped non stop and u will alwys be to late rotating.
U are crossing the map and when u see u need to move to a or b it wouldnt matter cause by the time u would arrive the fight would be over.
Its bad enough as it is now but without swifness then u would really need to get sw but then again if u need to take sw for speed then go with the signete, and if u go with the signete then u need to spec into spite and take a power amulet.
Its a complex thing more than most players think if u want to be optimal.
Anyway u made your point and i made mine ,lets leave it at that.

Yes thats true , so if u dont use staff what are u using?
U need blood magic, and atm i think bm is only teally viable if u use minions or something, cause if u take reaper+ soul reaping then u pick curses or spite? If u taking BM trait line u must be running something not optimal cause healing on necro suks.
Maybe u can post the build?

I actually love off hand dagger for the following reasons

1: Ability to transfer 3 conditions + blind (and chill with traits)
2: AOE that applies bleeds & weakness which is at least semi viable for power & very so for condi. Even if it doesn’t hit it makes them want to move.
3: With trait you get a +25% move speed when using it.

Yes of dagger its nice,but to take that +25% move speed u should be running something strange unless u dont take reaper and run soul reaping spite blood?

With offhand dagger you risk getting jumped and instakilled with zero lifeforce and no blindclear.

Lower/instant cast in favor of actual animated travel time.
Blast finisher.
Some lifeforce. Kinda hard, if its 2-5% per hit its useless in 1v1, OP in team or totally relliant on team scenarios. 5+1x per hit maybe, it cant be too close to focus either. Tho focus should also be improved

I do not use OH dagger very often because it is designed for a condition / corruption build.

Scepter – dagger does need more LF generation. If I build for scepter, every other weapon set is a dps loss on swapping so I hate swapping, leaving me short on LF.

Feast of Corruption is usually my only source of LF on bleed builds. It is not enough. Spectral skills and shouts goof up the build as much as running Signet of Undeath.

Corruption utilities need to generate LF. If they did, bleed builds would be much less delicate. HoT has shown me that scepter builds work great until the heat is turned up, then the slower LF generation leaves me very exposed.

For example, if I take Curses for scepter, then SR for Shroud and staff, maybe Reaper and shouts for LF and bleeds, I end up just dropping Curses for the rest of a power build.
