as you can see, necro is tier 4, 4 steps ahead the guardian for example…
ok, i’m not a pro player, but i feel to be a player who can have a good view of the game, from the mechanics to the skills.. well, after have played for a long time, and have lived the last 2 months in pvp, seeing guardian as tier 7 and ranger tier 8 make me feel bad..
of course, nothing to say about tier 1,2.. and about tier 3, well.. it s laughable
in every cased necro reached the 4th position, what do you think??

after decent time spent in pvp i feet the necro like a profession who can say his own more or less in any scene and situation..
but it s deserved??
and about others tier??

Personally I feel that the tiers should have a bit of rework for example take condi/power/sustain/support into consideration. The diversity of builds for each profession at this point is almost none existent. Not enough data to make a proper tier list imo.

I would put Guardian and Warrior ahead of Necro… Engi and Ranger behind Necro…

Oh wow surprising list imo, I’d have atm:

1. Ele
2. Mes
3. Thief
4. Engi
5. Guard
6. Nec
7. War
8. Ranger

Honestly I feel 5-7 is very interchangeable atm though depending on comps but in general that’s the order I think overall.

i feel a different thing
tier 1: ele, mesmer
tier 2 = engi, guard
tier 3: thief, ranger, necro
tier 4: necro, war

tier 1 deosn t need explanations
tier 2: has utility, or innate tank and survability and dps ability ( to survive, to burn down, to make foes losing time chasing ecc)

tier 3: has utility to the team, for example, thief can one shot low life opponent from the stealth, but with no 1v1 potential.. can steal svanir/chieftain, can go far to contest-decap points ( unless a bunker or a tank is on it); ranger with multitarget KD and high dps from the distance can be very nasty.. good skill set on GS for chasing/escaping.. good control and dps.. he wins tier 3

tier 4: no much reason to be played.. low utility, high risk, not such high rewards..like warrior.. take guard and u’ll have a better warrior.. at least u took him for rampage, but, no plz.. necro is here IMO if in the opponent team is a low boon abuser.. or when there are a lot of cc or too many tanky-dps professions

Cele signet necro is one of the few reliable counters to ele, maybe that is why it is in 4th place?

I feel like the necro being that high up the tier list is very much boosted by the fact The Abjured use a necromancer.

In the higher leagues it’s still more common to see a guardian on point or to see a team opt for an engineer or warrior rather than a necro.

The only thing I think we can all agree on is that Ranger is by far the worst pvp class atm.
Necromancer definitely isn’t last though; they are currently a decent counter for a meta that consists of a lot of elementalists and condi classes.

Necro, as some have hit on, is overvalued because Noscoc plays it high tier, and that’s all he really plays. It’s more of an “abjured is good and has a billion games under their belt” than a Necromancer thing.

Necro also fills a pretty good semi-bunker boon ripper role and looks unproportuonately strong against high Burn builds who can take the conditions right back.

Necromancer outside of niche use isn’t exactly amazing though. It’s getting better though.

Rangers are amazing for 1v1, they just suck for team play for the most part. I often wonder if they realize with better team viability comes nerfs in other spots.

Well, these tier list talk a lot of “1v1”. So I’ll agree, necromancer may be tier 4 in “1v1”.
Outside of that, I don’t believe that the necromancer in it’s state would be a top pick over other profession outside of it’s niche (boon corruption).

It just appear that in the boon everywhere meta a boon corruptor signet necro is a good choice to bother the other team. But I don’t think that it’s good to the point to make it “tier 4” in PvP.

People are always a bit biased when making these. Ranger, in 1v1 are actually borderline OP. Funny thing is, they will judge Ranger in terms of their weak team play and another class based on how strong they are in 1v1, Which is why these lists are usually flawed and highly disagreed on. More importantly is is pattern recognition, such as seeing Ele/Mesmer almost always at the top and Ranger always at the bottom.

i don t know.. maybe i am wrong, but in a team some professions are better than other just because that team plays with a certain playstyle..
right now i can say only mesmer and ele are pretty unbalanced.. and, of course, who can spam burn..
i don t understand why everyone complaints about ranger, but i agree on the good position of the necro.. but i’m convinced about a matter: he’s the only real counter to the elementalist, so good tier

Why is ranger dead last rangers get pets while necros get summons. Warriors are great classes if you spec correctly even in PvP and have great stunlocks. Thief is supposed to be number 1 as its skills are designed for optimal PvP performance (scorpion wire, basilisk venom, and blinding powder for example) but due to poor balancing winds up being near the bottom. Mesmer was designed as a primarily PvP class too but is actually good so its place is appropriate. Elementalist should be a jack of all trades but ends up being a master of all instead so yeah elementalist at number one I agree with. However, air is supposed to be the PvP spec but due to OP burns fire and earth d/d is more popular in practice.
