reaper bruiser build pvp
How do you survive running that glassy? With such low armor, the higher you go in PvP, the more you’ll find yourself dead very fast. I find these zerker/glassy builds working out fine when you first start out. They’re fun no doubt, everybody loves seeing big numbers. But the higher you go, and you get matched up against players that min/max more, you’ll find it harder to survive.
Also the higher you go, the more condi’s you’ll find everywhere. Your lack of condi transfer will hurt you big time. That’s likely when you’ll put away GS and equip Staff.
I run a very similar build with Staff instead of Greatsword. It is godmode against some comps. Super condition heavy comps will tear into you after your one condi transfer though.
I don’t agree that this is a glassy build like Gayvyne called it though. Valkyrie amulet is surprisingly survivable.
+1 to Dristig: there is a reason Carrion is so popular on Reaper, and Valkyrie accomplishes the same thing.
You lack ranged damage, which makes you susceptible to being kited. If it were me I’d try and fit the axe or staff in there to round the build out; this will make you more effective at side-points. “Kite the reaper” is well known by now, and it can really mess with people’s “go-to” strategy if they get hit by a reaper while kiting/running away. Axe gets most of my killing blows for that reason.

I like it a lot- I run a very similar build in PVE and WvW with Valkyrie (+ 4-5 zerk trinkets) , and its pretty good for PvP but I’ve found more success with cavalier and especially soldiers. (slightly different traits). I plan on trying more carrion as people here are suggesting.
However, for some reason +vitality doesn’t add to your life force pool in sPvP, and with our high base HP combined with the fact that power damage seems more common, I find toughness scales way better than vitality in sPvP

Actually it does, but you need to give it a few seconds when swapping amulets for the change to show up in your UI.

In that case its more of a wash between Cav and Valk, but I still prefer soldier, thank you for this tip though, I gogole searched it and couldn’t find anything, I thought it was weird
the reason i took gs is cause i play with full team where the support me on the first push till i get life force and than GS just do wonder with blind, pull, whirl, and vulnerability especially on smaller point
i dont try to go 1v1 unless i need to hold the point till help comes. this is why i dont need range weapon much.
my job is to do huge dmg on the point and enter RS as much as possible
in soloq i take staff for more range life force gaining
true that conditions can rip me apart but life force protect me with 30k hp pool.
but in higher tier i hardly see much condition beside the carrion necro build
Here’s my Valkyrie build. I tried to only focus on two things stacking Vulnerability and stacking Might. 25 of each is not unheard of in a real game. I know it isn’t the condi “meta” but I’m having enormous success at my scrub rank level. A note on Suffer, it is amazing in team fights but barely works 1v1 use it appropriately.
PS Shroud is life shroud is love.
