I play sPvP and SoloQ. More and more players are now whining at me that Power Necro’s are “OP”. I play the normal 6/0/0/2/6 build with zerker amulet and traveler runes. I can understand some players reacting to Lich Form, because the burst can catch you by surprise.

But more and more players are calling out Power Necro’s for being OP, when I ask them about it and why they think they are OP, they never seem to come up with a viable answer. I am not the most experienced player in the world, only Rank 42 in PvP. But necro is the only profession I play in PvP, because I find it fun.

When I’m playing power necro, it feels balanced to me. It’s weak to conditions, has low to no mobility and minimal access to stab. So how are power necro’s OP? What makes them OP?

Nothing does. They’re basically a bad version of fresh air ele. You have some crazy burst with Lich Form, and really strong damage through DS, but it is very easy to counter. It is certainly a fun spec to play, and good in yoloQ because of general lack of teamwork, but it is far from OP.

It’s a joke people still think necros are op. They are not even close viable anymore. If they trait power, they have NO defense. You just need to survive their “burst” and you automatically win.

Moreover, necros can’t stand teamfights, they can’t escape, they can’t do much (condition-)damage (because of all the nerfs they got), they just can die. At the beginning, I didn’t want to believe it, but it’s true. If you have one or more necros in your team, you loose.

No necro is OP. But as a power necro I’m confident with saying that I win 90% of my fair 1v1’s (fair saying that we both saw each other and that there were no allies to help us).

My usual rotation on my 6/2/0/0/6 WoSuffering, spectral grab and SoSpite dagger/focus power necro is spectral grab > dark pact (4 secs) > WoSuffering >SoSpite > Reapers touch and than some dagger 1’s > (when dark pact ends) DS > Doom (back into well) > Dark path > LB. And that all in around 6 seconds. If that doesn’t kill em (warriors/guards) use DS 5 and than 4 (< which usually does 3-5.5k when it’s not interrupted)

^ with that I kill most of my victims.
So back to the point, no necro is OP but can be exteremely strong when played right and not countered. And necro isn’t actually that squishy. Every necro has DS so with a full life force bar around 35k health. Ranger and Mesmer would be squishier.

Simple answer is: if there was anything OP about Necs we would see them in sPvP teams that go far in Tourneys.

Unfortunately when PVP is involved for some people it just can’t be that they got beat by the better person or that they were the reason why they got beat.

So far ive seen posts where people are being called lame for running a Minion build as its overpowered and easy mode. I have seen people who run Terror builds called overpowered because they can fear you to death. I have also seen complaints about us having DS because the second health bar makes us too overpowered. Now we have people calling Power builds overpowered. Whether it be due to their own professions shortcomings or the player playing them, some people just can’t take a defeat.

So what build do they want us to to play? A build with no power, no conditions, no minions and no DS. That pretty much leaves you with death by emoticon as thats about all you can do once you remove those. Either way I wouldnt pay too much attention to those whispering overpowered as unless they are on the winning end they will never ever be pleased.

Though I still think we are not viable to the meta yet. Just wrecking a targeted area.

If played right, yes power necro can be kittening hardcore.
